It’s a cult than none of the insiders believe in. L. Ron Hubbard wrote a letter to the editor of a pulp SF magazine saying that he wasn’t going to submit more stories, because there was more money in starting a religion. Which he did.
Miscavige, Cruise, and the other top guys don’t believe a word of it. But it’s a great way to enrich and empower yourself. If you question their power and authority, this is what happens to you. Not the first time.
