What changed ? Why is the wind in our face now ?

Posted on 02/14/2012 7:31:13 PM PST by se_ohio_young_conservative

Just before Thanksgiving, Obama's approval was somewhere in the lower 40s. All of our candidates looked within range to defeat him. This was our election to lose. Now I feel like the wind is in our face and we are backed up inside the two yardline. Is it the quality of our candidates ? The best speeches of the year so far were delivered by a former Governor of Alaska (whom I adore and wanted to run) and a British member of the EU Parliment. That is not a good sign.

The economy is not that much better. People live and breathe the conditions on the ground and they are not good even if they are not getting worse at the same pace as before.

What is the deal here ?

Am I to believe Bill O'Reilly's talking points tonight ? Are we just a dime bag welfare state (sums up what he said) ?

What is going wrong ? Words of wisdow anyone ?

It is like we need a political John Elway to step up and all I see on the sideline is Bubby Brister and Jeff George.

I just think we need to prioritize.

I’m not electing a Priest.

My guess is that you just don’t ever care for conservatism. My guess is that you are just socially liberal and that you always have exactly the same take on every election.

You don’t want homosexual marriage to be an issue, you don’t want us to try to win the Catholic vote either as we get handed this incredible opportunity to do so.

If we win the Catholic vote, then republicans win the election.

You are watching and listening to the MSM and polls. Work hard to spread the word of Conservatism amongst your friends and family and don’t get down.
Look up the Tea party in your area and call them for support and material.

I think you underestimate the Catholic vote in this election cycle.
True Catholics would be pissed at Obama without Santorum being their moral champion.

Never underestimate the amount of latent stupidity around us.

Stupidity is an untapped energy source. There are endless supplies of it!

Conservatives need to be fired up, and the chance to create the second time in history that the Catholic vote did not go to an incumbent Democrat, is an opportunity that we need to shoot for.

Besides, you forget who the conservative base is, they all need to know that their social issues are being kept at the forefront of American politics.

You are a social liberal who seems to mock conservative concerns about the homosexual agenda.

Yes, I must be socially liberal because Santorum has all the liberals thinking Contraception is our #1 concern.

No.
I am a Conservative that thinks right now we need to hold Washington’s feet to the fire over the fiscal matters and The Church should be able to fight the moral matters.

We win when we vote against lies, the MSM and Obama are liars, so vote for the truth if you can hear it!

Your goal is to move the Republican party to the left, while retaining conservative economics.

Social liberals are the base of the socially liberal party, Obama’s democrat party.

Best thing is to find a way even if it means leaving the country to zone out the MSM.

The MSM is like trying to live off a pure sugar diet, it can be done but you will rot your body apart.

Their headlines and your patronage fuels their existence.

The only news I get is almost only on my Samsung Galaxy cellphone.

Welcome to the political primary season!
It's going to get a whole lot worse in the coming months.

Some citizens in the USA seem to think electing our government is merely a fun spectator sport, akin to selecting the next American Idol, or best actor award.
Others are the diehard fans of two supposedly opposing teams. No matter the roster, they will support their “team”, never looking very close at the players.
And then there are the rest of us, who are actually the vast majority who post here on this website, who woke up, looked around, and couldn't recognize our own nation anymore.

Obama will lose in a landslide.
The Senate will flip majority, but the “freshman” Senators won't all be empty suits, and professional partisan hacks.

Our job, is to educate the people we personally know who “proudly don't vote at all”, to either vote for the best conservative candidate they are presented with, and/or prepare for anarchy.

We are living in interesting times.

No.

My goal is to get a guy in office that can actually reverse what Obama has done rather that give Obama talking points.

Which is an evasion of admitting that you are a social liberal, and why do you keep making this about Catholics?

This is about the conservative base, “gay marriage”, women in combat, homosexuals in the military, Catholic hospitals and freedom, we can handle all the major issues during a campaign, only a liberal would be constantly fighting social conservatism and trying to turn us into democrats.

No my FRiend.

My stance is that we are going into the fiscal abyss, and that is the #1 priority.

I care about those other things.

And this is NOT just about the Conservative base.
We have to win the General, and the Senate.

Obama shifted the conversation with this ridiculous Contraception thing as well as the gay marriage thing, and Santorum took the bait. That shifted focus from the economy, and lent legitimacy to social matters as being important to the race.

You mock social conservatism and religious freedom and label it "ridiculous", "the gay marriage thing", and unimportant.

The social conservative, and economically conservative, and strong national defense party, cannot ignore any of those issues.

At this moment, trying to change history and win the Catholic vote and holding on to the Evangelical base in 2012, is quite a priority.

Enough hand-wringing, already.

The only poll that counts is in November...
