The Newfoundland dog on the Titanic survived because it could swim for hours. Amazing. Never heard that before.

Unfortunately the really big dogs don't have a very long life. We rescued a St Barnard when my son was young. Such a loving patient dog.

Knew it only because I own a book of stories written by the survivors and publishied weeks after the boat went down....Some of the stories were in the movie.

Most don’t but the Tibetan Mastiff is very long lived. Many live to be 14-15 which is really long for such a huge dog.

Did know that. The most difficult thing about having one of the larger dogs and letting go. May have think about that one for a while.
OTOH my Border Collies seem to fit well with our lifestyle...Newest is just six months old. So smart. She already know sit, jump, to the porch, shake paw, lay down.
Right now she is teething poor baby.

That Irish pointed a bit. A happy dog.
I really liked the Dobie and the Weimeraner.
And the Airedale. Airedales are just plain cool.

Daddy had an Airedale as a child. Hasn’t had another puppy of his own until I bought him the Border collies...They really look after him. Just as Jeep did (Pulled him off the train track by the diaper when a train was coming)

We have a 5 month old bitch that my wife kept from a litter. We weren’t supposed to keep any, that was the deal. The others were gone at 11 weeks to there new homes but she wanted to hang onto this one girl for a while and she’s teething. It’s a major effort to make sure she’s chewing on bully sticks instead of furniture, then the other dogs try to steal them from her.

Loved my Airedale. He was my guy. Nobody messed with me. Ever.
They are mortal enemies of.....grizzly bears. How about that.
Mine took on 3 Dobie guard dogs and didn’t bat an eyelash.
What a dog.
