A Canadian guy named Joe has been digging out the basement of his house using nothing but radio-controlled scale model construction equipment... since 1997. Yes, you read that right he's been digging out his basement for 15 years with nothing but little R/C tractors, diggers and even a miniature rock crusher! Amazing.
At an average rate of eight or nine cubic feet of earth moved each year, the process has been absolutely glacial. But what do you expect when every morning he drives his little excavator on its transport truck down to the basement, unloads it, and then uses it to dig out the basement walls.
Then Joe uses the excavators to load R/C trucks and they work their way up a spiral ramp to the basement window where the soil gets dumped outside.

In that case, as a deterrent, the model builder needs only a set of Israeli flag decals...
Is your story really real?
I would prefer the IHOP logo myself but I like the way you think.
bump for later digging!
If you can get hold of his records, notes/recordings, and a few interviews, there is a PhD thesis in Industrial Engineering in it.
I tried.......all those years he spent under his house........yikes
Larry: "Yea, I saw him last year, he was under his house. Whats up, eh?"
Fred the mailman: "If you see him again, tell him we have a few crates of mail for him down at the post office, eh.....?"
Larry: "Will do hoser..."
He would need to convert all his vehicles to liquid fuel. Then build tanker trucks. And one or two tow trucks also. His vehicles are a little smaller than they need to be. I think double the sizes, maybe even triple, and they would be perfect.
It's a real story, the question is, "Is that story true"?
Heh, no, definitely not. Part of it is a lack of fine motor control in one of my hands (long story). Made putting together tiny pieces very difficult. As for fine detail painting like those kids managed? Fuggadboutit.
an idea....ping
Now that would be pretty cool! Put 5 or 6hp B&S engines in them with built-in starters, computer controllers, lights, and back-up beepers.
Instead of having tanker trucks just have fuel station for them to pull into and refuel automatically.
Very little?
He really needs to set up a little railroad to haul out the dirt.
I salute this guy and his hobby. Probably keep him out of the taverns.
Thanks for posting the link. I am going to show these pics to my middle school students.
I may not be the first to say this, but I really DIG IT!
Then I checked the location and realized the beach is in Canada. Oy vey
