Interesting, although I’m sure that the Monsanto defenders would shrug that off or try to explain it as a mere coincidence. This would probably explain why they’ve been so successful at fighting GMO labeling requirements.
If there’s really nothing to fear from GMO foods, why is Monsanto afraid to let consumers know what they’re buying? People have the right to know what -specifically- they’re buying. Any company that fights such a basic principle so fiercely is unethical. I’d rather see a product outright banned than let a company sell it under deceptive pretenses.
Transparency is good. It keeps people honest. We need it everywhere we can get it, folks, whether we’re talking about businesses or the government.
The Monsanto web site claims that the FDA believes there isn’t sufficient reason to label GM foods. So when we all acknowledge that the government is rife with corruption, I’m supposed to trust the wing that prosecutes Amish farmers who try to sell raw milk? Riiiight.
I really like your point that just on principle, if a company is fighting the labeling requirements so hard, then there might be some smelly fish involved! Transparency is certainly a good thing!
