Kelso, WA - Lug and Marley, German shepherds, are quarantined at the Cowlitz County Humane Society after biting a woman who walked into their home while their owner was away.
The dogs have been labeled "potentially dangerous" and it will be up to a judge to determine their fate - live or die.
It is stunning that these dogs have been impounded. The woman who was "attacked", Elizabeth Elder, walked into the dogs' home - knowing that the owner was not there.
Apparently Elder is a friend of the dogs' owner, Ingrid Sacha.
It seems that Elder took the familiarity which friendship offered a step too far when she entered Sacha's home in November, even though her friend was not there.
The dogs bit Elder on the legs, hands and face - enough that she required stitches. Elder believes that the dogs are dangerous and should be destroyed.

I think that the dogs exhibited restraint.The woman did survive.
Stupid woman,intelligent dogs.
If I were the German Shepherds’ owner I would threaten to sue the intruder for tresspassing and invasion of privacy (assuming she was there without permission). Then I would ask her former friend if she wants the dogs put down.
A visit from a friend into an unlocked home does not necessarily constitute an “intrusion”.
Had she forced her way into a locked dwelling, that would be considered an intrusion.
My good neighbors and I used to walk into each others’ homes routinely without knocking. Of course, their dogs knew me and didn’t react violently. There’s always more to the story, and that applies here, as well.

Yes, but when I enter my friends’ residences, I do so when they are home and I know they are home.
This woman entered the house knowing that her friend was not there.
I can think of no lawful reason why any person would knowingly enter someone’s house knowing they are not present.
What did this woman covet that she thought it was worth the risk of entering with multiple German shepherds on the premises?
Oh my! All dogss are teriitorial. My Bostie beomes furious when a workman comes to my house. I don;’t think he would hurt anyone, but he certainly givesw them fair warning. He is my prescious loittle watch dog. Shepherds are good watch dogs. The woman was not very bright to enter a home where the owner was not there to welcome her.
As a former real estate broker, many is the time I had to enter a home, one time with two Dobies. I pointed to the sofa and commanded “Go to bed! and they both obeyed immediately and did not get off the sofa until after my clients and I had left the house.
These poor Shepherds were only doing their job! I say give them a medal and release them back to their owner!
I agree. These were dogs doing what good dogs should do when the master is gone.
My GF owns a 65-lb female pit bull. Real sweetheart. I took her out to dinner one night and left my 58-lb male Portuguese Water Dog at her house. Next door neighbor came in the house to check on something for us and my PWD had the guy backed up against the door. GF’s Pit just sat there.
He knew both dogs as being “friendly”. But dogs have a strong sense of “place” and will defend it if the owner is not there as a buffer. Will not be asking the neighbor for any similar favors in the future. Don’t want him injured, and my dogs under threat of being euthanized.
Times have changed as evidenced by the comments here. I was bitten two times when I was a kid. Both dogs were immediately destroyed. There was NO question of whose fault it was because human life was more important. Once an animal bites one human there is a high chance it will do it again. This rule applied to all animals. It is a wise and common sense guideline.............
