Two German battle cruisers, Scharnhorst and Gneisenau accompanied by the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen make a successful run to their home port from Brest with minimal damage from British naval forces. However, both battle cruisers are damaged by mines, the Schnarhorst seriously.
