Here’s an off-the-wall vanity question:
Is Ellensburg, WA cattle country? And is THIS the Ellensburg for which the “Ellensburg” style western saddle is named?
I don’t know specifically about the saddle, but it IS cattle country and the valley is more or less shaped like a saddle. I am going up there tomorrow.
but Ellensburg is also known for its unique "Ellensburg Blue" gemstone found in the area, and only in the area.....it's discovered by farmers as they till their fields and I understand it can be quite lucrative....supposed to be one of the hardest stones next to diamonds...
It is indeed cattle country (although not as much as in the past). Still have angus and other breeds as well as beefalo out here. I’m not sure if the saddle is named after the town or not, but it sounds likely.
