(california) Looks like the perp is using a M38 carbine with the butt cutt off! (2nd pic at site) If he shoots it, it would probably kill him, too. Sad part is that the rifle will probably be destroyed when the police catch up with him.

Mosin-Nagant with butt and most of it’s barrel cut-off for mobility was a Russian gangsters’ weapon of choice since earlier 1900s to about 1970s. It was called ‘obrez’ in Russian criminal slang.
