Well, a friend of mine committed suicide by shooting himself in the head twice with a .22 rifle. Stuck the muzzle in his mouth and pulled trigger. When that didn't work, he pulled it again. Worked the second time. It was a real shock to us. We didn't know until afterwards that he'd been under considerable pressure a work.

This reminds me of the story on this forum some time ago where the Saudi man claimed his wife shot herself in the back of the head by accident. No charges were filed in that case either.

After hours of negotiations, SOT members made entry. They heard a woman screaming and gunshots, then saw her coming down the stairs and rescued her.

I would guess there was nothing left for her to be rescued from.

Definitely will want to see the coroner’s report on this one, but there ARE instances of suicides involving multiple headshots. I recall a story of a lawyer who shot himself 5 times in the head with a .38 while several horrified witnesses worked to force open the locked door to his office. The lawyer took an entire day to expire after his performance. Some brain structures are more vital than others, and some calibers are moe effective than others.
