It's funny how popular it is with adults these days since upon release it was denounced as a glorification of juvenile delinquency or just an expression of utter nihilism (a world divided into doltish adults on the one hand and crass, materialistic teens on the other).

I remember that. I saw it with my wife-to-be and her fellow library manager / lady friend. They felt the same way. However, I thought it was mostly funny.
