That’s of course off of full retail... If you go to cruises.com you can get them for 50% off of retail.

Not only should they get a full refund + plus $$$.
They should get free cruises for life.
Who in his/her right mind thought of a discount? Worst thing they could have done publicity wise.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that they’re charging the passengers double for life vests.

I have had friends, who were treated much better for far less. One ships lost its’ pods and had to cancel the cruise, they were given a free cruise and expenses home.

On my last Alaska cruise, we changed destination because of rough seas, another cruise ship was stuck in Hubbard Glacier for two days, because they went ahead.

Gross negligence to put an incompetent man like that Shettino in comand. They ought to sue to completly wipe out the company. Disaster could have been hundred times worse in loss of life. Italian government should forbid company from ever operating cruise ship again. Imagine what could
have happened if conditions prevented rescue.

Now that their Skipper has run off, it seems apparent Gilligan has been left in charge of the aftermath.

They ought to sue to completly wipe out the company.

Spoken like a true liberal. Are you hankering simply for the collapse of Costa Cruise line, or the entire family of Carnival Cruise Lines to include Cunard, Princess, Holland America and the Yachts of Seabourn?

It’s the marketplace, not liberalism, that calls for wiping out a business whose gross negligence Caused misery and death. That is the way the cookie crumbles. They should pay with all they have to the victims, especially to the families of the murdered.

This was no Act of Gd. This was obvious proven straight up negligence. In cases like this, lawsuits are totally justified.

You are confusing the marketplace with the trial attorney lawsuit industry. The marketplace will collapse a business when they refuse to purchase goods or services. The only market that benefits from lawsuits is the trial lawyers.

replace the sunken ship

They don't even have to. Costa's a pretty big outfit. They have 9 or 10 other ships the size of the Concordia. That said, the offer is very odd and extremely ill-timed.

I hope at least everyone will be reimbursed for their lost possessions and the full price of the cruise. How they settle with the families of the deceased, of course, is a different matter.

Costa has a long history and a very good reputation -- I can't imagine they'd want to squander it. But will be interesting to see if they do. Carnival may well be calling the shots.

Not near enough for me! I want naked dancing girls in my luxury cabin. I want champagne in my bathtub. I want a lifetime supply of Cialis and all the condoms I can use. And I want it now! And beer, I want beer! And Chicago-style Bone-in Ribeye steaks for every meal. And my own personal PlayBoy Bunny masseuse.

I hope they all hold out for 35%. That would only be right.

IMHO, this is one of life’s moments when you get home, you go to church, light some candles and thank your lucky stars, and just shut up about it.

No, the competitors benefit when one company implodes. Frivolous lawsuits are wrong and business killing, but true negligence needs lawsuits.

You wouldn’t like a country without lawsuits. I’ve lived there. Bosses, doctors, etc are gods and the people have no rights.

Spoken like a true liberal.LOL I'm a conservative, but I've sailed as crew member under a dozen ship captains in the oil exploration business, and I was thinking back over the years remembering those skippers. They were all business and although there were never any women on board , if there had been those skippers would never have allowed themseves to be distracted from their responsibility by entertaining anyone. Even when big shots from the main office came on board those ship captains were aware of the constant responsibility of command.

That the management of Carnival Cruise lines would give a man like Shettino command of a vessel is appalling, Lives of thousands of passenger and crew were in his care. Irresponsible manage ment.

the competitors benefit when one company implodes.

Competitors benefit when consumers want and can afford to purchase their goods and services. When the lawyers sue a company out of existence, insurance rates rise and the cost of providing the goods and services escalate across the industry. The winners are the lawyers.

Take a moment to think through your argument. You aren't seeing the deep blue sea through the salty air.

I get it, and frivolous lawsuits are crazy and wrong. But some lawsuits are just, especially when they are for fair retribution for obvious negligence. And I feel that is part of the marketplace, like shoddy workmanship is.
