I had to look that up because it always confuses me. There is another Clark Fork, not that far away, that heads pretty much the opposite direction (west of the divide) to Lake Pend Oreille and then to the Columbia. Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to refresh my memory. It is a relatively warm +20F in W. Yellowstone right now.
As you probably know, there is a railroad right of way that runs through West Yellowstone and down to Idaho Springs and who knows where, but if the train still runs at all, it doesn’t in the wintertime.....we took the snow machines right down that railroad cut.....it was pretty nice sledding....something in the neighborhood of 20 miles. It’s also interesting how Idaho, Montana and Wyoming come together at that location. Thanks for the memories.
