Is Glen Beck being hysterical here or is this a case of Newt flip-flopping? More importantly, is Beck over the top? And if not Newt, who does he think will best Obama in the general?

I don’t trust Beck any longer.

Besides, Newt’s political history is long and known, and anyone can research his opinions.

Lol, does he even know what a "Realpolitik Wilsonian" is? It's a FOREIGN POLICY approach that has NOTHING to do with a Progressive domestic agenda.

Realpolitik Wilsonian:

Realpolitik (see also Political realism; from German: real "realistic", "practical" or "actual"; and Politik "politics", German pronunciation: [ʁeˈaːlpoliˌtiːk]) refers to politics or diplomacy based primarily on power and on practical and material factors and considerations, rather than ideological notions or moralistic or ethical premises. In this respect, it shares aspects of its philosophical approach with those of realism and pragmatism.

Wilsonianism or Wilsonian are words used to describe a certain type of ideological perspectives on foreign policy. The term comes from the ideology of United States President Woodrow Wilson and his famous Fourteen Points that he believed would help create world peace if implemented.

Common principles that are often associated with "Wilsonianism" include:

See Newt talking about it in the obvious context of foreign policy.

Glenn Beck is an utter moron for going into a meltdown over thinking Newt was advocating Progressivism because of saying this.

I think Glenn has jumped the shark. He is now seeing “progressives” behind every door.

Progressives don’t balance the budget like Newt did. Progressives don’t reform welfare for the better like Newt did. Progressives don’t work with one of the greatest Conservatives in Ronald Reagan. The list could go on and on but you get the idea. Yes, one can cherry pick on Newts statements over the years but what he has ACTUALLY DONE is what counts. GO NEWT GO! Glenn Beck be damned for being a narrow minded fool.

Notice that Beck - while he doesn’t directly endorse Romney - goes berserk whenever the inevitability of Milt is in question.

I’ve been listening to Beck. Yesterday, he about fell out of his wide swivel chair after seeing the latest polls showing Gingrich taking the lead in South Carolina. He has been having a conniption lately(seems all the time now) even stating that he has ‘failed his listeners’ to his radio show. I suppose that means he has failed to persuade them on who to vote for in the Republican Primaries.

Newt Loves FDR, Models Himself After Woodrow Wilson and Admires SEIU’s Andy Stern...

And Mitt Romney is less divided in his mentors, only one....0bama!

Rick Santorum is the best candidate, Mittens is the worst, and Newt is the only electable decent one still in the running.

Newt gets my vote!

Well, I didn’t post this, but I read it at other places than on Beck’s site. You can hear it on youtube, as well, if I am correct. And, FYI, Beck is not supporting Romney, and has not been the whole cycle.

Too many are overlooking some real shortcomings of Newt, and I’m not even talking about the character issues prevalent int he media right now. He paints his record with a broad brush that sounds quite wonderful, but he practically had to be dragged screaming and kicking to the measures that were eventually successful, because, by the time he got enough seats to actually win them, he was so into something else and had already forgotten the Contract with America largely. I do remember those days. While I like to watch him debate, it is getting old now to see him say one thing in a debate and quite something else to other venues (groups). He’s not been called out because people love to see him in the debates and are hoping he takes on Obama. Well, if Obama refuses to debate him and runs attack ads all the time, it will hurt Newt. Talking redemption then will make people beg the question: If you can be redeemed, then cannot Bill Clinton, and others?

I’m personally hoping we have a brokered convention, as I don’t see any of these guys being quite what we need to take on Obama.
