I dreamed of trolling against Newt in my maidenform bra and all I got was this big old zot

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Newt Gingrich on Friday backed at least a portion of the Dream Act, saying that he would grant a path to citizenship to illegal immigrant youths who agree to sign up and serve in the U.S. military.

That’s a much tighter standard than the full Dream Act, which President Obama wants. That legislation would allow legal status and an eventual path to citizenship for children and young adults who join the military, but would also apply to those who go to college — a much broader class of people.

“I am opposed to anybody who came here illegally getting citizenship. That’s entirely wrong,” the GOP presidential candidate and former House speaker told a young man who asked about illegal immigrant students. “The only exception I would make is if young people, the ones you are dealing with, are willing to join the American military and serve the United States.”

Speaking a day before South Carolina’s GOP primary, Mr. Gingrich said that would put them on par with any other foreign-born legal resident who joins the U.S. military, and who under the law has a path to citizenship.

Mr. Gingrich’s stance puts him in between Mr. Obama and GOP rival Mitt Romney, who has said he would veto the Dream Act.

In defense of Gingrich. The numbers here that Gingrich is talking about who do get into the military would be miniscule and given a path to citizenship versus millions of illegal immigrants inside the US. An analogy: only pocket change v. millions of bucks.

Why even discuss something like that when there are proposals to reduce our ground forces by 80,000 during a terrible economy?

You need to to do a little research on comments jim has made about newt. Just because he supports him over willard does not mean he wants to group hug the man. Try search!!

Perhaps the quote from George Romney on Hoodat's About page is a clue to whom he (or she) supports.

Amazing your resopnse is not no Newt did not make miliions off freddie mac and his government position as a lobbyist. No he didn’t make that commerical quid pro quo to get something for his group he lobbied for in return, you don’t defend his hypocratic attack on capitalism. You don’t say he wasn’t for a mandate in health care etc...etc...all you do is bring up “Jim” No I give Jim 100% pass all times just like Rush (even when I think he is wrong) because they have done so much. You guys are blinded is all I am saying. Newts “morals” no better then Clintons, he was a lobbyist and that is how he made his money, he was for mandates in health care, and help promote billiions of our tax dollars wtih Pelosi towards global warming hog wash. You like a liberal make no cogent arguement of facts just make an irrelevant statement.

If you join the military, you get to be a citizen.

Makes all the sense in the world.

Heinlein agrees.

Military should always get 1000 votes.
Landowners. 500.
Those who paid taxes 7 or more years. 10
Citizens. 1.
Welfare Recipients 0.

I do indeed. This would have been slammed as "shamnesty" only a few short weeks ago.

I wish we had some of those so-called "RINO's" back like Daniels and Barbour again. They were far better than Newt.

They never bought into global warming or Federal healthcare mandates. And they've walked the walk, not just talked the talk.

The Dream Act was wrong, and rife with loopholes to give amnesty to virtually everyone who came here illegally. That is not what Newt stands for. What he does stand for is reason, and I will vote for him.

If all we get out of this election is a good, honest fight, then we have made the point. Romney is in no better position to win anything. I don’t want a kindly gentleman debating the pig, I want an attack dog. Even if Newt loses, BO will be greatly diminished. Not like McCain with his “my freind” BS. I want a FIGHT!

Is that implied threat that I’ll be removed if I disagree with my fellow “Conservatives” (quotes for that word). Sounds like what liberals do when they can’t argue facts of an issue or case they just threaten and want to shut us up. They don’t actually respond to the facts. Any denial that Newt wasn’t for Global warming? Any denial that he was for Mandates? Any denial he made millions of dollars as a lobbyist? Denial that he lobbied for Freddie Mac and made 1.6 million? Denial that polls show Independent hate the hell out of him? Denials that he was kicked from congress and fined 300,000? Denial the “non insiders” the Tea Party of the early 90’s wanted to overthrow him because he was the “insider” playing ball? Or just gonna call me names.

Horrible. McCain 2.0 on immigration. Newt would have signed the DREAM Act which was voted down (barely) last year. I cannot believe this is what we are left having no choice but to support. Mittens? Newt? Dullboy Rick? Sickening.
