I would bet dollars to donuts hussein will launch an attack on Iran when we get a little closer to the election. Count on it. Not a ground invasion, just air and missile strikes on military facilities - particularly naval installations in the gulf, missile sites, and nuclear facilities.

Well, that would be my target list. I'll bet hussein spares his Islamic brethren's nuclear facilities "so as not to cause an environmental disaster." :-/ More like he wants to appear to hurt them, but not really. So the missile targets will be short range stuff that they have a zillion of anyway. The strikes at naval targets will hit warehouses and support facilities that hussein's Russian friends will be happy to rebuild for them. Everybody wins - from hussein's viewpoint. You watch...

That is in all honesty what i was thinking he would do. Something that shows he can do :something” about Iran but falling short enough of all out military ground invasion. It would allow him to play both sides of the fence and get mainstream AMericans behind him. The thing is, even with a Republican president in charge I would be unsure how they would be able to start a full scale ground invasion and occupation of Iran. And the draft reason I mentioned is one of them; how would a president possibly convince the majority of Americans that Iran, which for all the bad things about it has made virtually no military offences against another nation in 30 years, is enough of a threat that we need to bring back the draft, which would likely be crucial in a full invasion of Iran ?

He would also have to make sure the Chinese dont get upset with him either and esnure that they do not in anyway see this as an attack against them. Actually, to be sure, even the most “hawkish” Republican president would need to ensure that the Chinese do not view it as an attack on them before taking any military action of any kind against Iran. Especially if the reports of their hidden military arsenal are true. No president could convince the American people and other elemnts of govt that we need to draw the severe ire of the Chinese, who could possibly have a couple thousand nukes they havent informed anyone of, in order to deal with a nation we think is trying to create a handful of nuclear warheads. Perhaps he, and by he I mean some of his intelligent advisors if they exist, could find a way to get Iran to react so that attempt to attack Hormuz and so the Chinese turn on Iran and not us. Or maybe they’ll just be pressured to let Israel take care of business on this one; it is evident that the Chinese would be much less likely to be hostile towards an Israeli strike than a US strike.
