I would oppose Mitt Romney even if he were an Evangelical, because he is a LYING LIBERAL.
However, having been Mormon myself, a couple of things are important to note.
First, the comparision to Kennedy and his Catholicism is silly. There is no comparison. Mormonism is based in the US, not globally like Catholicism, Mormons take OATHS (used to be BLOOD OATHS) to put the LDS church first in their temples, Catholics do no such thing, third Mitt met with LDS prophet Gordon Hinkley to ASK PERMISSION and support to run, JFK did not, Mormonism has a lot more direct control over its members than the Catholic church does (I speak from experience). Even Bob Bennett has said that LDS in governement are expected and have used their postions to further the LDS church (I can source that).
Try reading “When Salt Lake City Calls” to find out more about Mormons in power and the problems.
Not like JFK at all.
Secondly, having been Mormon, I know that church inside and out, I know how they are, how they think and Romney is a faithful Mormon who is made even MORE dangerous by his loyalty, not to Christ, but to the LDS church.
Finally, it is not fanaticism to point out the truth using LDS sources and quotes and there is MUCH the LDS church has to be embarrassed about and lies about and it will all come out.
I have no problem at all voting for a Catholic, I consider Catholics Christian. However, Mormonism IS NOT IN ANY WAY Christian and I would never vote for one. I know too much about them and their propensity for lying - having been a victim of it.
Now, however, LDS leadership attempt to downplay differences or even portray opposition to a candidate of the LDS faith as bigotry. LDS would be the first to proclaim that they do NOT share the same faith as Protestants or Catholics, at least they did before Mitt Romney proclaimed he desired the Presidency.
LDS also wouldn't believe that by their not accepting non-Mormons' faith as legitimate is the same bigotry that they claim they now suffer.
They do have a different set of standards between how they view the beliefs of Christians and how they think others should view their faith.
Mormon missionaries as well as other leaders in the LDS faith do not accept Christians as the "true faith" but rather an "abomination in God's eyes."
Trust me, the LDS religion will be completely investigated and highlighted by liberals/DemocRATS should Mitt attain the nomination, not by conservative Evangelicals in the Republican Party but by the other side and all of those people who thought that there should be no problem with a Mormon President, will be forced to re-think that decision.
Do JEWS claim to be CHRISTIANS???
Do JEWS say that ONLY they are CHRISTIANS???
The headline IS:
CHRISTIANS are DAMNED tired of HERETICS getting away with Spiritual MURDER!
Reaganaut is right...If Romney was an Evangelical, I wouldn't vote for him...Not only because he's a "lying liberal"...but a pro-abortion one.
But you can't say that about Mormon voters...can you?
They voted 94-6% pro-romney in Utah & Nevada the previous election. (What? No "sickness" comment there 'cause Mormon voters because they voted primarily or ONLY because Romney was a fellow Mormon?) One Mormon apologetic conference in August even cited a Gallup poll indicating that 96% of Utah Mormons would vote either for Romney or Huntsman this go-around).
As for a Jewish candidate for POTUS, there's a principle here you overlook. It's what I call: THE 'BATPHONE' PRINCIPLE DURING A JACK BAUER-TYPE OF '24' CRISIS [LET'S HAVE A 'COMMISSIONER GORDON' WHO ACTUALLY HAS A 'BATPHONE' DIRECT LINE TO THE GOD OF THIS WORLD IN THE MIDST OF CRISES SITUATIONS!]
Say what? Obviously God hears the prayers of all people. But we know from reading the Bible that God seemingly responds more favorably to those He is in an actual relationship with...versus examples like Pharisaical religious legalists whom Jesus said were of their father, the devil (John 8).
Many, including Mormon leaders, claim that if we start considering the faith of a candidate, that it might "weaken the foundation" of our country.
You mean religionists might actually prefer having a POTUS in the White House who actually knows the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Why, how shocking!
Do we mean that if the Living God was called upon during a Jack Bauer-like crisis by a POTUS who actually is in a vital relationship with Him...that is problematic? What?
To hear some tell it, such a candidate would NEVER be preferred over voting for an atheist candidate on faith grounds!
Which in turn, would supposedly "weaken the religious foundation" of our country?
How does that make any sense?
