US-Israeli discord over action against Iran went into overdrive Sunday, Jan. 15 when the White House called off Austere Challenge 12, the biggest joint war game the US and Israel have every staged, ready to go in spring, in reprisal for a comment by Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon in an early morning radio interview. He said the United States was hesitant over sanctions against Iran's central bank and oil for fear of a spike in oil prices.....
DEBKAfile's military sources report that a third aircraft carrier and strike group, the USS Abraham Lincoln, is also on its way to the Persian Gulf. This massive military buildup indicates that either President Obama rates the odds of an Israel attack as high and is bolstering the defenses of US military assets against Iranian reprisals - or, alternatively, that the United States intends to beat Israel to the draw and attack Iran itself.
DEBKA file garbage.
Debka is probably predicting, rather than reporting. Their “sources” and accuracy are notoriously bad.
I haven’t found any reliable sources that support the assertion that “White House called off Austere Challenge 12”. Only if Hussein wants to lose what little Jewish support he has.
Trying to remember which is the more reliable source:
Debka, or a newspaper horoscope?
I agree... But they have also been correct and way ahead of the curve on some articles. Time will tell.
I give them about the same credibility as I give the biased lamestream US media!
I thought that from the beginning. Obama’s motives for having troops in Israel should not and cannot be trusted. I hope the leaders in the military have some backbone and a moral compass.
Wow you got that right.
I trust the British press (far) more then the US media anymore.
Our so-called media is nothing more than a colluding, dishonest liberal democrat party PAC.
US media bias gets worse, by the day.
I don’t know how to post links but there are a couple of articles on drudge that seem to support this.
I think you can follow Drudge’s link to the article, then when you’re at the site, copy the url you want to include from your browser url window, and just paste it into your post...
There’s a bit more involved in posting a link as a picture, an icon or sentence, but just posting the link should be that simple.

The U.S. has had a TPY-2 X-band radar in Israel for about decade, operated by contractors and nominally under U.S. control. The Israelis like to make of show of being self sufficient in matters of defense, but the U.S. has the big iron in missile defense. The U.S. recently approved the first ever foreign military sale of TPY-2 to Kuwait, in December. Iran must feel the noose tightening.
Simpler yet, hover your mouse over Drudge’s link, right click and “copy link location”, or whatever the specific text is in Win, very similar to that.
Then just paste the contents of your clipboard in your post.
Debka does report some good information, which they foul up by their poor conjecture and misinterpretations. The bottom line on this:
1) Military exercise cancelled, but soldiers remain.
2) Very large US military buildup in Gulf, with three AC battle groups and a division of ground forces.
3) The US, not just Obama, would prefer that the US do everything, because Israel would not agree to our strategy or p.c. ROE, and they might be a bit quick on the trigger with their nukes.
What was not said:
1) Exercises are cancelled if it looks like the balloon may go up soon.
2) We have put three carrier battle groups in the area before and nothing came of it.
3) We have four submarines filled with conventional cruise missiles, in addition to our cruise missile carrying fleets.
4) The key is activity on the Island of Diego Garcia, where we would launch some of our strategic bombers.
5) What are Russia and China doing?
6) Is Iran preparing to launch across any “red lines”?
Totally agree with all of your statements. Thank you for sharing as it is always better to look at the bigger picture.
Your posts and posts like it that add insights in understanding the greater perspective is why I come to FR.

FR needs a grammar check too! LOL
I try to avoid "me too" posts, but I have to say it in this case. Thank you for your analysis.
And Russia this weekend paraphrased JFK during the Cuban Missle Crisis declaring any attack on Tehran will be considered an attack on Russia.
I think people are missing the simple reality that “it’s all about Obama.”
Oil price increases, and their rippling effects on the economy will take the edge off of any supposed (nominal) economic growth this year, which will cause consumer and investor sentiment to fall, which will kill all hopes Obama has for re-election in ten months.
It is not complicated at all.
