From Medical News Today, word of a major failure of peer review spanning years and 11 journals.
Researcher Who Studied Benefits Of Red Wine Falsified Data Says University
An extensive misconduct investigation that took three years to complete and produced a 60,000-page report, concludes that a researcher who has come to prominence in recent years for his investigations into the beneficial properties of resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, is guilty of 145 counts of fabrication and falsification of data.
In a statement published on the universitys news website on Wednesday, the University of Connecticut (UConn) Health Center said the investigation has led them to inform 11 scientific journals that had published studies conducted by Dr Dipak K. Das, a professor in the unversitys Department of Surgery and director of its Cardiovascular Research Center.
The internal investigation, which covered seven years of work in Dass lab, was triggered by an anonyomous allegation of research irregularities in 2008.

LOL Irreconcilable dietary differences. Never speak ill of bacon or Spam!
Same here.
However, I have long been scepticall that wine was was the best 'vehicle' for getting Resveratrol. I suspicioned it was just too good an opportunity for the wine industry to pass up.
Resveratrol is one of the phytochemicals found in red grape skins. So my theory has been, why not eat the grapes and/or drink the grape juice, which is likely to contain more of it? I find taking the supplements more convenient and less expensive.
Resveritrol has been the subject of considerable research, and has been shown to be one of the most important polyphenols.
Whoever this turkey is, he got lucky, and it has made the nutrition deniers angry.

Japanese knotweed is demonstrably superior to red wine.
I always knew that beer was better!
not to fear - ;o)
chocolate is still VERY good for you -just get the right kind. (not the common chocolate bar, likely to have carnuba in it, for one thing. Carnuba is the same wax we use on our cars! They put it it to keep it from melting in transport and on shelves.
I just had a bite of dark organic 87% (and I make homemade hot chocolate with organic Mayan chocolate from S.America - make it with water, organic sugar, the cocoa and a dab of coconut oil.
Lard is also good for you - research it. Well, it’s good for you if you render your own, from organic fat back, like it was always made. The lard in the super market has been homogenized - which renders it unhealthy.
