I'm a Linux from Scratch partisan. My base system is built atop the remnants of an absolutely ancient TAMU/SLS core dating back to August 1992. Since I compile everything from source, I always have the latest versions of the apps of greatest interest to me. Plus, my kernel is really sleek, consisting of only the drivers I need.

That said, my multiboot GRUB monster does have a Fedora 16 environment. It's a splendid system and when 17 goes official, a "yum" upgrade will make that an easy transition.

Can you explain why “Linux from Scratch” instead of Gentoo? Which community is bigger?
