Word For The Day, Monday, 1/9/12
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
consternate; verb
verb (used with object), -nat·ed, -nat·ing. to dismay, confuse, or terrify. to fill with anxiety, dismay, dread, or confusion
Etymology:164555; < Latin consternātus, past participle of consternāre to unsettle, throw into confusion, perhaps intensive derivative of consternere to cover, spread (with) ( con- con- + sternere to strew; compare stratum), though sense development uncertain

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
The prospect of a second Obams term consternates the living hell out of me.

No pushing at the door please!
Sounds like a Yosemite Sam curse word.
It’s dance party Monday at WFTD. Bring your homework and your dancing shoes : )
i don’t know what in tarnation you are talking about ; )
Confounded Rabbit consternates me...
True Conservatives should not allow the Establishment to consternate them into voting for Mittens.
I’m waiting for count-your-change to explain what this word has to do with the First Lady’s stern, and why I shouldn’t stare at it.
Not in the primary, but in the general? ANYBODY BUT OBAMA. no third parties, no staying home. he MUST be defeated. A+++
Lots of consternation going on here. Tebow to Francisco Cabrera.
At least we still have a healthy hockey team riding high in the standings.
What?
Oh.
ABO=Anyone But Obama.
Of course, if Romney wins the primary, we may all have to look for another website to hang out on if we express such sentiments.
OK, football people. End of the Saints game. Saints graciously take knees instead of running up the score. Class move.
But they kneel down on 4th down and the clock keeps running and everyone leaves the field.
What happened to the clock stopping on a change of possession?
It’s just barely past the Orthodox Christian holiday season—New Calendar Theophany and Old Calendar (Serbian) Christmas were this past weekend. And already I am consternated by the WAY too early and WAY too Romney Presidential primary season!!!!
The REAL problem is that we have let a very few monied folks pick our Presidential candidates. (That includes BOTH Romney and obama.) I want good old American free elections back!!!!
Speaking of dancing and “entertainment” of sorts, the choice of Howard as a judge on America’s Got Talent has caused conSternation among some of its devotees...
What is Francisco Cabrera? I know the Broncos beat the Stillers, and that the Pens are beat up. Funny one liner from Twitter yesterday: Tebow is the most famous white Bronco since OJ. LOL!
you got it!
Another football question How does Ron Winter get playoff games ? (though you were probably liking him on the backward pass call). He's atrocious.
Francisco Cabrera is the otherwise mediocre and long-forgotten Atlanta Brave whose 9th inning hit beat the Pirates in 92, their last chance at greatness.
His is the name of stunning defeat.

will be interesting to see how it plays out.
