Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives have caught the man responsible for two recent bank robberies in Seminole and Largo.
Investigators say they were able to identify 49-year-old Raymond Shaeffer as the robber from fingerprints found on a demand note used in the Seminole bank robbery.
After fleeing the Cornerstone Bank in Seminole on Jan. 4, Shaeffer dumped the orange jacket and baseball cap he wore in the dumpster behind the Treasure Island Fun Center near the bank. Detectives were able to lift the fingerprints from the demand note found in one of the pockets of the jacket.
Detectives found Shaeffer at the West Care Facility, located at 1735 Martin Luther King Jr. St., in St. Pete Thursday evening where he was arrested.
During interviews with detectives, Shaeffer admitted he robbed the Cornerstone Bank to pay for his girlfriend's rent. Detectives then noticed Shaeffer matched the description of the man who robbed the Achieva Federal Credit Union in Largo on Dec. 6.
Detectives say when they pointed out the similiarities to Shaeffer he admitted to robbing the bank to, again, pay his girlfriend's rent.
Shaeffer is charged with two counts of Armed Robbery and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
Well, was she hot enough to be worth it?
I see his picture, where is hers?
As long as it’s for a good cause. /
She might have a few doing the same.
But is he really using the money to pay for rent.
No need to say anything...
Did you see the pic in the article? White guy.
Epic mugshot is epic.
Yes! This guy is a bigger sucker for broke chicks than I am!
They are cuter, right?
