To all butlers, housekeepers, chefs, under cooks, lady's maids, valets, first and second footmen, chamber maids, parlour maids, between maids, scullery maids, stable masters, grooms, head gardeners, chauffeurs, game keepers and to myself who is all of these:

A gentle reminder that tonight is telly night for Downton Abbey.

Have your Twining tea bags at the ready....and perhaps some fresh strawberries for dipping in clotted cream....or perhaps a raisin scone.

See you all after the show.

Cheerio....

Yes, I am so looking forward to it. It is the Christmas show tonight, isn’t it? Do Matthew and Mary ever get married? I felt so sorry for Lavinia but she just wasn’t right for Matthew. Anyway, looking forward to tonight’s show!

There's lots of little dramas whose loose ends are dangling in every nook and cranny of the grand manor house. Can't wait!

I hope it's TWO hours tonight like last week.

It'll be a special treat if it's a Christmas episode. I'm interested in how they celebrated the holidays in the 1918's era. Will the dining room sideboard be groaning with a plump Roasted Goose, Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, King's Cake, Plum Pudding, Devon Cream......?

I'll see you all in the library after dinner for brandy and cigars.

Oh, wait...that's for the men only.

I'll see you ladies in the drawing room for brandy, cigarettes and gossip.

My daughter is arranging a ladies’ DA party for tonight. She and her friend are making refreshments and we’re calling in all the faithful DA enthusiasts. Everyone is invited: Ivy Manor, The Loveliest Village of the Plain.

It is two hours and it is the Christmas show—I’m SO excited and have been talking like Mary all day. :) I rewatch the previous episode beforehand so I can have four full hours.

I think the above two links to the parodys are duplicates of Part One. However, a link to Part Two can be found to the right of the actual video of Part One.

These spoofs are off-the-wall English humor....and lots of fun.

Tally Ho......

Sounds like a great party in the offing.

I'll be over in plenty of time, save me a seat.

Bated breath!

I am a guy. I thought “Haywire” and “Safe House” were chick flicks. Then last night, my wife and I watched the first two episodes. A friend of hers from work recommended that we watch it. I’d never heard of the series but after an hour or so we were hooked. We’re watching it on Netflix now. Don’t tell me anything! I’m also an Anglophile, having lived in the UK for five years, and watched a lot of “Upstairs Downstairs.”

TONIGHT'S RANDOM RAMBLINGS....

Ah, Matthew and Lady Mary together at last. I love happy endings! But.....will something happen to upset this apple cart? Will it remain a happy ending?

The Lady Edith story line is just not grabbing me at all. I'm having trouble fleshing anything really interesting from it so far.

Somebody, SOMEBODY holds the key in absolving Bates from the murder conviction. Is someone in the Downstairs involved in some way? The fact that poison was involved in her death interests me. Rat poison from the kitchen?....but who, how, why? Or did the newspaper magnet do her in by some nefarious means? Where's Hercule Poirot when we need him?

After the episode's ending, the added bonus of "behind-the-scenes" film clips was a toothsome dessert to tonight's gourmet entree.

Ax: I recommend that you watch the show starting at the beginning of Season one and then go on to Season two.

LENI! I can’t take it. I think I might be too emotionally unstable for DA! :-) Tonight, alternately crying, laffing and gnashing my teeth...biting nails, couldn’t even get up to get a Diet Coke. Worried about Isus and Bates...

And what was with Mrs. Hughes and Grantham at the trial? How are we going to survive until next season?
What did you think of this grand finale?
Job well done, cast and crew and Julian.

O’Brien seems to be having a temporary transformation of some sort. She offed the heir so she needs to be redeemed. Maybe she’ll save Bates somehow.

The thing is that Vera was such a wench. Why would anyone have cared if she died? And why didn’t Bates get to tell his side?
Is that how it is in England... Guilty until proven innocent?

I’m emotionally spent and have to take to my bed.
