Revealed: The priest who changed the course of history ... by rescuing a drowning four-year-old Hitler from death in an icy river
* Future Fuhrer was plucked from certain death by boy who grew up to join the church
* German newspaper from 1894 reveals incident
It may be the most devastating act of mercy in history. A newspaper report chronicling how a boy of four was saved from drowning has surfaced in a German archive. The child who historians believe could have been Adolf Hitler was plucked from the icy waters of the River Inn in Passau, Germany, in January 1894.
According to Max Tremmel, a priest who went on to become one of Europe's most famous organists, his predecessor Johann Kuehberger had rescued the terrified Hitler. Father Tremmel told before his death in 1980 how Father Kuehberger, around the same age as Hitler, had seen the other boy struggling in the waters of the River Inn and dived in to rescue him.
The story was never verified by Hitler during his lifetime. But now a small cutting from the Donauzeitung - Danube newspaper - of 1894 has been found in Passau.
It describes how a 'young fellow' fell through the thin ice of the river in January of that year. The report described how a 'determined comrade' - the paper at the time was left-wing - went into the freezing water to save the child who would grow into mankind's biggest monster.
The near-drowning episode also featured in a German book called 'Out of Passau- Leaving a City Hitler Called Home,' by Anna Elisabeth Rosmus, a personal history of her family's connections with it.
She wrote; 'The banks of the River Inn provided an idyllic setting for the children to play.

And at the critical juncture, another universe would materialize and them folks would be enjoying the fruits of our labor, in fact - they're doing it right now, as we speak, I tinkkkkk.
Im’ sure God understood and this is why the battlefield is not supposed to be about mercy. God knew that Tandey didn’t know what Hitler was to become and it’s not like we are supposed to know about these things.
Yes, but evil spirits can only inhabit an empty vessel. Hitler was an abused kid and I think he was bankrupted through that abuse. ALl I am certain of is that the demons who inhabited Hitler were certainly, definately, unusually malignant. Hitler had great potential and that is certainly why the demons were particularly interested in entering him and taking over.
If I could of I would of saved Elvis’ life! Or better yet, Buddy Holly’s.
Wonder how many other evil persons never came to adult fruition due to early death?
And how many extraordinary people have been aborted?
I thinks so too. Have seen it. It reminded me, I'm not sure why, of what I read some philosopher said (quoting from memory): "I can understand why some people do not believe in God. What I cannot understand is how people don't believe in the existence of the Devil."
A four-year-old jumped into an icy river to save another four-year-old? Sorry, I’m not buying this. Perhaps the translation is garbled. But if Kuehberger was the same age as Hitler and Hitler was four years old, it means his rescuer was four years old.
Hey you left Anakin alive!
I’m certain that the boy, Schwartz György, died decades ago, and the aged man known as George Soros is actually a demon.
Sure would like to know the real name of THAT demon - as he has been a smooth operator all these decades.
Agree with you both. Demons will hitch a ride with the best they can get- they have a hierarchy, too. A big dog demon won’t waste his time inhabiting a simpleton when he can ride someone who is “going somewhere” IMHO. Simpler, lesser spirits or fallen angels might be satisfied to inhabit my neighbor’s dog or a crackhead. (Not to disparage the worth of the crack addict as a soul to God, but as a vehicle for the devils to do damage).
I seriously doubt this story. At least that Kühberger as it seems to be spelled in German saved Hitler.
Kühberger was born according to wikipedia on 11 October 1889. Hitler was born according to wikipedia on 20 April 1889.
So in January 1894 Hitler would have been about 4 years and 8 months old, while Kühberger would have been about 4 years and 3 months old.
Now I know everyone including President Obama says we are softer now than in the past, but I do not believe that 4 years and 3 months is an age where someone was jumping in an icy river to save someone even in 1894. And there were probably not nearly as many backyard pools in Austria in those days compared to now or say the US south today, so it is even less likely that a 4 years and 3 month old was able to swim, not to mention some how saving and lifting another 4 year old out of the icy water.
So maybe someone saved Hitler that day. Maybe Kühberger had some role. But this story as reported is not credible to me.
The British WWI soldier story is more credible. It was interesting and new to me.
Marx was long gone by 1894. However, what if a Georgian teenager named Joseph Dzhugashvili had happened along and jumped in to try to save Hitler only to be swept away?
Hitler didn’t create the German Workers Party - predecessor to the Nazi Party. He just rose to power within it. The seeds for the Reich were sown by Dietrich Eckart & Anton Drexler. The foundation of the Nazi ideology; antisemitic, nationalist, anti-capitalist were very popular traits common in Europe shared by many leaders.
If Hitler had never lived it most likely would have changed absolutely nothing.
That’s a great story...do you suppose it explains the inexplicable at Dunkirk? Where Hitler could have eliminated Britian right there-but held off so evacuation could be completed.
These are interesting questions from several aspects. Is history, or some parts of it, inevitable?
What would have happened it it had been Trotsky, not Stalin, Beria, not Khrushchev, Guevara, not Castro, and so on?
Would the USSR still stand if it had been Carter in 1980?

Don’t ask what if my grandmother had a moustache, because as I vaguely recall, she did have one!
If only he hadn’t been abused. That is all I have to say. I think Hitler was destined for greatness and during his sojourn in Austria, the ‘missing years,’ he probably faced a tremendous amount of spiritual warfare and he lost out to the demon he let enter him. All the greatest names of the world have faced serious spiritual warfare and starting with Christ, all those ‘destined’ for greatness have had year in which they wandered and were ‘off the grid.’
