Freedom to "enterprise"
1/4/2012 | John Parker

Thomas Jefferson was only 22 years old when the Son’s of Liberty raised the “rebellious stripes” to the top of the Liberty Tree in 1765. Ten years later he would draft the Declaration of Independence defining in timeless prose the rights of all men to be free. But his wisdom may have been even more evident when in his Inaugural Address in 1803 he warned against the redistribution of the fruits of free enterprise. He said “To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principal of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.”

When the next President delivers his inaugural address Jefferson’s warning will be 210 years old yet his words ring truer than at any time in our history. Are we about to lose our freedom to “enterprise”? The next election will tell.

Obama loves to encourage Americans to break the 7th and 10th commandments.

hypothetical question..........

If the Republican ticket came down to Ron Paul and Thomas Jefferson (reincarnate), who would get the nod from the people and why?

Thanks.
