Considering its finances, the Newt Gingrich campaign would normally like free press and an endorsement. However, this is one billboard the Former Speaker of the House probably doesnt want his face on: an advertisement promoting infidelity.
Route 1 in Pennsylvania showcases a billboard with Gingrichs face and the words Faithful Republican, Unfaithful Husband. The ad is in reference to Ashleymadison.com, an online cheat dating site for married people. Their motto, featured on their website, is Life is short. Have an affair.
Why would a hook up website want to feature a GOP candidate?
Now that Newt is the leading contender in the race for the GOP nomination, we felt compelled to make a point to illustrate how times have changed when a serial divorcee/adulterer is capturing the hearts of the American people, site founder Noel Biderman said in a statement on Friday.
Gingrich proves that marital fidelity has no bearing on someones ability to do a job, Biderman continued. Rather than judge him, Americans have finally embraced the reality that affairs are commonplace, and perhaps paradoxically, might be an indication of great leadership to come. He is not the first nor last politician who will step outside of their marriage.
Gingrich has been married three times and has a history of extra-marital affairs. While Gingrich has risen to the top of recent GOP polls, many evangelicals have reservations about voting for someone with such a poor marriage record.
Gingrich divorced his first wife after 18 years of marriage after reportedly cheating on her. Next, he cheated on his second wife with Callista, then a young committee staffer, while he was Speaker of the House. During this period he was also attacking President Bill Clinton for having an affair with Monica Lewinsky. His second marriage ended after 18 years and he married Callista.
Despite Bidermans assertions that adultery is now mainstream, Megan McCain, daughter of Senator and former GOP presidential candidate John McCain, told MSNBC that she believes a candidates fidelity plays an important part in the campaign process.
I dont find this woman terribly appealing considering the fact that she is a mistress, McCain said of Callista.
In an effort to try and quell evangelicals concerns, Gingrich has recently vowed to remain faithful in his current marriage.
I pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others, Gingrich wrote to The Family Leader, a pro-family group earlier this month.
Its uncertain whether this will be enough to propel evangelical voters to overlook his personal history. However, the fact that Gingrichs recent poll numbers have been bouncing around at the top of the GOP field indicates that evangelicals are at least willing to consider looking past his history.
However, Ross Douthat of the New York Times has severe doubts about what a Gingrich nomination would mean for evangelicals:
The real issue for religious conservatives isnt whether they can trust Gingrich. Its whether they can afford to be associated with him.
Douthat as well as some prominent Christian leaders have indicated that as a whole Christians can -and perhaps should - forgive Gingrichs past mistakes. However, this does not necessarily mean that the religious right should choose a person with such a flawed personal history to be the standard bearer for the very cause that he betrayed.
Some evangelicals share in Douthats concern, however, they also state that they are not looking for a politician to be the standard bearer for certain causes.
Denny Burk, associate professor of Biblical Studies at Boyce College, writes that to expect candidates to set the world to rights and to make all things new is to expect way too much.
No matter who I vote for, I am not expecting that person to usher in the kingdom of God or to be the walking fulfillment of Christian virtue. As a Christian, I am not looking for the GOP to elect a messiah. That job is already taken.
But the Breck girl hardly made the news. And he was running for what???
>Why would a hook up website want to feature a GOP candidate?<
.
Duh. It’s getting paid by Newt’s enemies for running the ad.
Life is short. You’ll be giving an account to your Creator before you know it.
Disgusting...the equivalent of Sister Wives Tv Show (pologymist) having an ad up for Romney and Prostitutes for Paul ads.
You keep spamming these threads.
People like you are the one’s that have a glass house. I would love to come into that house of your’s. God, I can’t stand people like you that have a purist view of the world. SOB, people like you give Romney.
I’ll just put a sock in my mouth.
If they really wanted to get dirty here...since Ron Paul supports legalized prostitution...they could put up an ad of hookers for Paul and go a little further and put up on ad of “Sister Wives for Romney” based on the tv show on pologymy....outrageous and below the belt trash ...anyone dumb enough to believe the garbage should not have the priveledge to vote
What pray tell is the difference between spamming and posting?

Desperation to take Newt out and help Willard.
YES...........you our spot on. Why the mod’s allow his b/s is a question.
You want to post such TRASH on Newt and he never gets into the garbage heap but I will....Romney the establishment’s man has skeletons on his own...article was in The Deseret News and AP and there are many more...Romney’s great-grandfather, Miles Park Romney, married his fifth wife in 1897. That was more than six years after LDS church leaders banned polygamy and more than three decades after a federal law barred the practice.
Romney’s great-grandmother, Hannah Hood Hill, was the daughter of polygamists. She wrote vividly in her autobiography about how she “used to walk the floor and shed tears of sorrow” over her own husband’s multiple marriages.
Romney’s great-great-grandfather Parley P. Pratt, an apostle in the church, had 12 wives. In an 1852 sermon, Parley P. Pratt’s brother and fellow apostle, Orson Pratt, became the first church official to publicly proclaim and defend polygamy as a direct revelation from God.
Romney’s father, former Michigan Gov. George Romney, was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, where church members fled in the 1800s to escape religious persecution and U.S. laws forbidding polygamy. He and his family did not return to the United States until 1912, more than two decades after the church issued “The Manifesto” banning polygamy.
“When you read the family’s history, you realize how important polygamy was to them,” said Todd Compton , a Mormon and independent historian who wrote a book about the polygamous life of the church’s founder, Joseph Smith. “They left America and started again as pioneers, after they had done it over and over again previously.”
B. Carmon Hardy, a polygamy expert and retired history professor at California State University-Fullerton, said polygamy was “a very important part of Miles Park Romney’s family.”
Great idea!
And what about the following:

RE: SCREW-YOU AND THE CRAP YOU CONTINUE TO SPEW HERE.
Before you spew out garbage like this post on a fellow FReeper, I suggest you get to know the poster first and his/her posting history.
The fact that you would post FALSEHOODS like this :
“You are nothing less than an a Paul/MITT Bot!” just shows you are posting out of IGNORANCE.
You are welcome to post trash about Mitt Romney, BE MY GUEST.
I am not a supporter of his.
LOL, seems you have hit a nerve, seems facts are no longer acceptable. There goes the old freedom of speech thing, well it was just an idea of old dead white men anyway.
