Full unedited title: 'Don't worry kids, I'll be fine': Marine shot three times in street robbery survives... by plugging bullet holes with his fingers
A U.S. Marine officer has told the incredible story of how he survived a street robbery by plugging bullet holes in his body with his fingers.
Lieutenant Colonel Karl Trenker, 29, of Miramar, Florida, was shot three times as he confronted two men who had stolen a gold chain from him.
He said he used his battlefield training from Afghanistan and Iraq to stem blood from chest wounds by shoving his finger into the gaping wound.

He is a Lt. Col. at 29?!
Prayers up for full recover Sir! Wow, Come home and get shot in Florida, go figure. My respect to this Marine.
29 year old Lt COL?

From what I have seen, 29 years old is young to be a Marine Lt. Col.
He looks more like 40. I think they got his age wrong.
One news source (don’t remember what it was) gave his age as 48.
They stated that he is 48 but that he's served for 29 years.
The sloppiness of the reporter get it wrong again.
29 in the Corps, 48 on the planet.
From what I could research, I think you are correct. He’s 48 y/o.
I think I’m pretty tough, but even if I was a thief I wouldn’t steal a gold chain from that guy!
He is 48, has been in the Corps 29 years.
Whoah! Dude! Can’t get more man than that!
Another story says he was hot 5 times.
>>The local marine with seven children asked him to give it back. Listen, set that thing on the ground, walk away and were done, he told Local 10. Police are going to be on their way in a minute.<<
7 kids? He is superman. :)
Good thing it was only five times. Even a Marine would run out of fingers eventually.
He’s a Marine with 29 years of service. The report got garbled somewhere along the line (either that or Marines don’t count the part of their lives before they joined the Corps).
