A U.S. Marine officer has told the incredible story of how he survived a street robbery by plugging bullet holes in his body with his fingers.
Lieutenant Colonel Karl Trenker, 29, of Miramar, Florida, was shot three times as he confronted two men who had stolen a gold chain from him.
He said he used his battlefield training from Afghanistan and Iraq to stem blood from chest wounds by shoving his finger into the gaping wound.

The other thread says he is 48, not 29. He has been in USMC 29 years.
29 is real young for a LTC. He's obviously the real deal.

Thanks. That makes more sense. I just glanced at his pic and thought he looked older than 29 and though its been many moons since I was in (the 60's) I thought it unusual that someone could rise to the rank of Lt. Col by age 29.
Regardless, he is an amazing man and I salute his bravery.
Semper Fi to all my Freeper Marine bros!
Yeah, no way is he a Lt. Col. at 29. That would be young even to pin on Major.
They had him on Fox news this morning, one heck of a beefy dude. He is and always will be a marine, trained to survive no matter the odds.
And, he works at SOCOM in Doral, so relative to dumb dopers, no doubt pretty familiar (in country in S.America).
Why did he not kill those dirtbags?
I’m 10 min. from Deerfield. And carry a .380 Kel-tec ALWAYS.
Thanks Jeb Bush for the Castle Doctrine in 05.
He’s a very talented military artist, two of his works are on his FB page.
