Grapevine police investigate the scene where they found seven people dead outside Dallas in Grapevine, Texas, Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011.
Four women and three men who police believe to be related were found apparently shot to death, and authorities said they believe the shooter is among the dead.
Six members of a Texas family apparently opened Christmas presents just before a relative dressed as Santa Claus showed up, opened fire and killed them before killing himself, police said Monday.
Grapevine police spokesman Sgt. Robert Eberling said the shooter showed up in the Santa outfit shortly before gunfire erupted and was a member of the family.
They found four women and three men, aged 18 to 60, dead. A motive for the shootings remains unclear.
“It appears they had just celebrated Christmas. They had opened their gifts,” Grapevine Police Sgt. Robert Eberling said Sunday, adding that the apartment was decorated for the holiday, including a tree.
Jose Fernandez, a 35-year-old heavy equipment mechanic who moved to the complex with his family about six months ago, said he always felt safe in the area, but is now afraid to let his 10-year-old son play freely outside.
But Christmas murders occurring in Nigeria, are at the top of "Breaking News".

Happened in California three years ago too, sick SOB killed a lot of family or ex-family.

I have a pretty dark sense of humor at times but don’t see anything funny about a mass murder on Christmas Day.
I agree, some of the comments here are extremely bizarre....Then it's sent to chat, yet a mass murder in "Nigeria" is at the top of breaking news..

Strange that the names are not released.
Last month or so, there was another mass family shooting in a Dallas suburb. The family wasn’t identified in the news for a couple days. Turns out they were Vietnamese and that shooting was at a kid’s birthday party. This may be either related or is a copy cat.

Very odd.
I believe it was a shooting at a Dallas area roller rink where there were 6 dead, 4 injured, and all the victims were Vietnamese.
Supposedly they will be releasing the names sometime late today (Monday) after the autopsies are completed. This is about 5 minutes from my house, and right in the middle of the area in which I was raised (just up the road from my mom and dad’s house).
Way too close to home. And very much out of character for this area. Grapevine is a big small town — still a lot of us here who have been here for a long time. I’m hoping that it isn’t a family I know (one news article says one of the victims is from Colleyville . . . town next door).
Which is very odd, since the investigators and coroner already know the causes of death of all the victims.
Someone is intentionally holding back the names of the victims involved in this incident, and the autopsy has nothing to do with it.
This might be understandable if the shooter/suspect was still outstanding, but he's dead too.
