ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Matthew Quain still struggles to piece together what happened after a trip to the grocery store nearly turned deadly. He remembers a group of loitering young people, a dimly lit street - then nothing. The next thing he knew he was waking up with blood pouring out of his head.
The 51-year-old pizza kitchen worker's surreal experience happened just before midnight earlier this year, when he became another victim of what is generally known as "Knockout King" or simply "Knock Out," a so-called game of unprovoked violence that targets random victims.

A few years back there was a report in the local news of a 51 year old salesman being stabbed to death by a group of teenage girls, the motive was probably robbery according to the report.

Keep alert, if you start being followed by a group of young Amish, turn around with your hand in your coat pocket and try to restrain yourself from squeezing the trigger. If they get inside your personal distance zone blast away. You can get the hole in your coat patched up later. At 61 years old, I no longer care about people filing lawsuits, and people in these parts would invariably side with an old man with no arrest record in a jury trial rather than side with a bunch of criminal Amish.
Your head must be on a swivel at all times in public, your awareness must be in 360*.
You must avoid locking your attention forward, and be aware of potential danger in all directions. Make a habit of turning around, looking behind, changing pace, turning, stopping to scan.
Predators are searching for oblivious prey. They will stay away from anybody who is exhibiting the alert 360* attention zone.
Under no circumstances ever pass through a group of “urban youth” osensibly passing on the sidewalk. They should be on your radar a block ahead, and you should cross the street or otherwise keep distance between you. If they decide to cross the street as well, they have “declared” their intentions to at a minimum harrass you, so at that point your hand is on your concealed weapon.
GMTA. Blind corners are especially dangerous, so they must be turned wide, with plenty of space.
Plus having a couple dozen youth saying that you struck first, while they were on the way to church looks a little suspicious.
Still wondering why people move to get away from this kind of crap? ... There will always be ghetto’s, they destroy one neighborhood and they move on to the next. Section 8. To boot, as of Jan 2008 these 'urban yutes' know they friends in high places who will not prosecute them on Federal Crimes when caught. The scum knows the worse they'll face is some local or county prosecutor and State Charges. Plus a judge whose more than likely hand picked by the 'urban' Rat party leaders, like in Chicago and Cook County IL, and will get a slap on the wrist with Probation when copping out to lesser charges. Felony 'Armed Assault & Battery' becomes 'Simple Assault', a misdemeanor. And 'Felony Mob Action' charges are just dropped or dismissed out of hand.
In these past 3+ years since Obama and his pet monkey Holder came into office the news clearly shows that the ghetto rats, oops - 'urban youths' - have gotten a heck of a lot bolder with their 'in your face' lawlessness. From the Flash Mob Shoplifting Vandals, to the Flash Mob Beatings of old people, and now with these 'Knockout King' punks.
One day soon they'll run into the wrong 'old' person walking with a cane who they see as an easy victim. As that cane will be just one of the weapons that 'old' person has and knows how to use with deadly force.
Indeed. Twice a year I have to go to Las Vegas for a checkup. Both the wife and I can't wait to get out of the place and breath a sigh of relief when we hit the Interstate out of town. Just too damn many people, let alone the subsidiary "benefits".

It is LONG past time that we put the "penitent" back in "penitentiary":
1) Use the French system - no time off for good behavior. You behave yourself that day, it counts towards your sentence; don't, and it doesn't.
2) The first half of your sentence, you don't leave your cell. The balance, an attempt will be made to rehabilitate you. If we see you again, you NEVER leave the cell.
3) Sigh. Fat chance under current conditions, as the Judicial System dumps the repeaters back into society where the CCWs end up taking out the garbage. Cheaper that way, as well as making him somebody elses problem.
Kill them on the spot. Slice them open and pour salt in their wounds.
Think of the absolute worst punishment you can think of and I can guarentee that there would still be people who would do it, because there are people who still do crimes even when there is a good risk of being blown to bits, the moment they even touch the screen door of a house with an owner and a shotgun.
If the threat of possible death doesn’t deter anybody, do you honestly believe that the risk of severe injury would really deter them any more?
I sincerely hope that the next time a group of such animals tries this, the would be victim, a CCW holder, responds with a nice game of double tap using some good quality hollow points.
It sounds like you are in search of perfection, and not finding it, throw up your hands. If nothing else, a dead perp prevents him from committing any more crimes. Criminals escape from prison, none that I know of have escaped from the grave.
I think calling aggravated assault a “game” is perverse.
I’m not in search of perfection. I’m quite satisfied to drop, on somebody convicted of crimes, a suitable punishment that fits the crime.
Somebody who would play KK, I’d be happy to give them the Singapore treatment and they’d have to make amends for their crime equivalent to what they cost their victim.
I just recognize that putting the fear of God into people, trying to get them to behave doesn’t work. It never has and it never will.
