Merry Christmas everyone! My sincere hope is that all of you, each and every one, will have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Just wondering if any others out there are spending this sacred night solo.
Besides my trusty Boxer, Django the Wonderdog, and a new edition to the household, a gorgeous long-haired black cat I have dubbed Jackson, I have the house to myself all evening and night.
Tomorrow, it will be family wall-to-wall at mom's house, complete with gifts and an excellent multi-calorie dinner. But, tonight, I'll enjoy a quiet supper and a nice cappuccino, watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol," and maybe "A Christmas Story." Probably turn in early.
Anyone else in Freeperland alone tonight? Just curious.
This will get you through life:
“You gotta keep laughing or you *might* start screaming.”
Never forget that and you’ll be okay.
:)
[it also explains my extremely twisted and dark sense of gallows humor...but at least I’m not screaming...yet]....LOL
Merry Christmas.
I wish I had video’d them. I was SO taken by surprise that I was just taking it all in! They were SO SO SO PRO American......the FUNNIEST part of the entire conversation was at the end:
They were both about 1 year from graduating. BOTH of them came from VERY pro USA families in exile. These two young ladies told me they had asked their families for a gift at graduation. They wanted to go to New York City and do 2 things: pay their respects and say thanks at Ground Zero and then go see CONAN O’Brien!! *LOLOLOL* I could NOT believe this comment UNTIL I got back to the hotel that evening and sure enough, IN ENGLISH was a Conan O’Brien show from the night before on SWEDISH TV!*LOL*
TOO BAD WE CANT EXPORT RED EYE! *LOL*

We need cameras that have a built-in dog-eye filter. Some of the best shots are lost because of their night-eye reflection. I guess ambient lighting with no flash is the alternative.
God bless us ... everyone! -Tiny Tim
I am alone but enjoying the music programs on TV.
“I have been watching Its a Wonderful Life courtesy of YouTube. Its in fits and starts, but I got the highlights.”
Here’s another one, and you only need about 25 minutes:

It’s from the original Twilight Zone series, entitled “Night of the Meek”. Art Carney (who, up to that time, was seen mainly as a comedian) plays a drunken department store Santa that gets fired, finds a bag of old cans, and then finds that the bag contains a lot more than just old cans....
Along with the 1951 version of “Scrooge” (with Alistair Sim), it’s my favorite Christmas film....
Highly recommended to all this Christmas Eve....
You arent alone.......you are with all of US.........read from the beginning of this thread and IF you dont start getting inundated with messages, I will be SHOCKED!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
One Christmas I had chicken soup for dinner......BUT I also made some decisions that year too. You can build your own Christmas tradition..start reaching out and see
Any chance we can round up all these pro-American people and bring them here and send out our home-grown idiots to take their places in the foreign countries? I’ve always believed that the USA was an idea, not just a place, and that there were many like-minded people around the world who belonged here who were just unfortunate enough to be born elsewhere.
I hear you; I have relatives scattered from South Florida to the Bering Sea in Alaska and here I am retired in Kalifornica stuck with a house I can’t sell! All is well though, because the weather is chilly but good, everyone is healthy and employed, and my Jack Russel Nate still thinks I am wonderful when I toss peanuts for him to find and shell.
Best to all of you and remember that most folks have more problems and troubles than we FReepers do!

I’m the only human here, but I’m hardly alone—my 3 kittehs are with me.
I was far more alone when I was married!
Wouldnt that be ideal? It wont happen but just one more incident: We made a point to NOT live in the “American” area of Paris so we lived in Montparnasse...several of the locals (who deemed to befriend us) were known as the “ people the Americans speak to”...it was funny
Anyway, my husband was responsible for 16 Countries, that is why we lived in Paris-it was central.
When he was gone, when I got tired of being alone and cooking, I would go one block to “Les Liberte”...out local brasserie BUT...after the first time we went there together and then I went there alone, Bernard from NORMANDY, “adopted”me. WHY?
HIS FAMILY WAS PERSONALLY AFFECTED by WW2...and he felt he OWED AMERICA.....”adopting” an American was to HIM an OBLIGATION.........he CRIED when we went there on our last night (we were moving home) and would NOT accept any payment. His affection and protectiveness for ME, his “American” was so touching. As a matter of fact, we chose NOT to live in the “American” area, we lived in a met several people living in that area to whom the USA is somewhere they would DIE to live: The Christian Bosnian, the Egyptian Copts, the Italians and the Norman French. The ‘SHINING CITY ON THE HILL NAMED THE USA” STILL RINGS TRUE AROUND THE WORLD.
I lived it and saw it.
THANKS TO YOU.
Hope the New Year brings the joy and happiness that is waiting for you. I can attest that divorce takes time to heal from but wiser, smarter and better are coming! God speed to you.
Aw, thank you so much, ‘Bama, and Merry Christmas to you!
