Merry Christmas everyone! My sincere hope is that all of you, each and every one, will have a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Just wondering if any others out there are spending this sacred night solo.
Besides my trusty Boxer, Django the Wonderdog, and a new edition to the household, a gorgeous long-haired black cat I have dubbed Jackson, I have the house to myself all evening and night.
Tomorrow, it will be family wall-to-wall at mom's house, complete with gifts and an excellent multi-calorie dinner. But, tonight, I'll enjoy a quiet supper and a nice cappuccino, watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol," and maybe "A Christmas Story." Probably turn in early.
Anyone else in Freeperland alone tonight? Just curious.
Thank you for your service to our vets!
I should be there too.
Go Hoos!!!
I’ve been in your shoes; my dad suffered from Parkinson’s for decades (early onset). Please know that you aren’t alone and have a very Merry Christmas.
Way off subject Sarge but the evil channel (MSNBC) is running 6 hours of Lock Up tonight. Just shows where their heart is on Christmas Eve.

Fox is running a nice Christmas show.
Merry Christmas Skooz. It’s only 8:30 p.m., and we’ve already had our Christmas supper (standing rib roast). The food is all put away, and dishes are soaking. My two sons and I opened our presents after supper. My youngest son, age 40, has already left for home, and my oldest son, age 45, will be staying overnight and driving back to Albany tomorrow. He’s at the kitchen table with his laptop. So, I’m basically not spending Christmas Eve alone, but will be totally alone for Christmas, which is fine with me. I’ve got plenty of things to keep me busy and happy.
Yah, we are home with that Christmas Crud too, MamaB. Son is off in NJ with girlfriend and her family. We did go out to see Christmas Carol at a local theater, coughed and hacked a bit. Went to Urgent Care this am for meds. It’s quiet here, chicken soup will be just right. Not sure if we’ll make it to midnight mass or just try to make a morning service. We’ll see if we’re on the mend. I keep thinking, tho — 100 years ago people died from these things. No antibiotix.... Merry Christmas to all of you, too.
I learned long ago how to festivate when solo...sounds like you go the idea down as well. This year with family and soon to leave...but many prior alone. I actually will miss my Christmas routine this year...
Merry Christmas to all you solo people this Christmas Eve!
From one Freeper to another!
CW
Christmas Day will be spent going to Church and then Mama and I will relax and watch TV.
It gets better FRiend.
Lovoreads=loved (posting from IPad—lol). You are loved and missed . . . truly.
Learn how to smoke 6 dollar hams and bring them to your neighbors wrapped in foil. It’s really fun, especially if you don’t know them!
So true. All of us have different circumstances and expectations of what Christmas should be. But it really is about sharing, caring for each other, and remembering the gift that was given to this world so many years ago. God bless and the merriest of Christmas to you all.
Merry Christmas all Freepers!
Thank you Chief for your service :). Merry Christmas to you!
Not alone, but my son works graves, so he is asleep right now. Have the houndies around entertaining me. The young basset is particularly playful. Neighborhood activities are a bit different tonight, so he is in and out of the house.
Well
Its nice for all of us to be together. I’m not the Padre but I will say this:
May God our Father touch all of you that need help. May He give you rest and peace. And may Jesus our Lord have a happy birthday!
Went to Christmas Eve services at church, home alone tonight with my little Maltese dog. Tomorrow traveling to my Brother’s house (3 hour drive) for Christmas dinner around 5:00.
I recommend the Christmas Eve services at one of the local neighborhood churches.
Smile
Thank you. Merry Christmas!
As my kids moved into adulthood, I discussed this reality with them... I don’t really enjoy the stress or work of putting up decorations, putting together cards, having to go out with rude people to “shop.” Two years ago we did a Christmas movie, still with quite a few “normal” Christmas activities. That is now a standing activity; this morning we caught Sherlock. Last year fewer gifts. This year, I told my kids no gifts, I would rather donate and enjoy the time. Son still insisted on one bluray movie, but I am so much more relaxed.
