I worked with a guy who looked and acted just like that. He had a scruffy beard, suspenders, a smug smirk and only ever used vi as an editor. He was also reflexively liberal and smart as hell. What!?!? This smart fellow used that bloated, fancy, WYSIWYG, user-friendly vi editor? No thanks. I am a real he man and wouldn't reduce myself to such eye-candy. Instead, I embrace the immutable fact, Ed Is The Standard Text Editor.
