BOSTON, December 14, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A front-page story on the Boston Globe’s Sunday edition highlighted the work of a prestigious Massachusetts hospital which blocked and altered the development of one young boy’s body to match his self-identification as a girl.
Wyatt Maines, now 14 years old, is the identical twin of brother Jonas - but thanks to powerful hormone blocking drugs, he is now five inches shorter and several pounds lighter than Jonas, sports more feminine features, and goes by the name “Nicole.” “The thought of being a boy makes me cringe,’’ said Maines. “I just couldn’t do it.’’
Soon, Maines plans to begin taking estrogen to develop hips and grow breasts, an irreversible change that will cause permanent sterility. The last stage - what the Globe calls Maines’ “final step on her journey to womanhood” - will be surgery to remove Maines’ penis and create a vagina-like structure.
The Maines family said they opted for the treatment to remedy young Wyatt’s gender identity disorder (GID), recognized as a psychiatric condition by the American Psychiatric Association. The APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual states that only a very small number of children with GID maintain the symptoms into later adolescence or adulthood.

Criminal abuse of a minor. I guess we now see what kind of parents this “Brave New (secular) World” of political correctness has created. Parents should be imprisoned for child abuse, the doctors stripped of their right to practice medicine anywhere in America.

And the John Hopkins Hospital won't do sex change or as they are now called "gender reassignment" surgeries any more as the cater to the mentally ill and do not help the person's condition at all. Or the reverse, make it worse. It should be a felony to do this to a child.
It should be a capital crime.

What kind of psychological imprinting (abuse) did the parents do to this poor child in order to produce their “girl”? Horrid.
Remember the terrible/infamous case many years ago of the twin boys? One was accidentally disfigured in a botched circumcision, so he was raised as a girl. Both boys’ lives were ultimately destroyed by the tragic, misguided attempt to thwart nature as a way to solve the problem of his missing parts. I forget their names but IIRC there is even a wiki article about them.
I suspect that the modern explanation [of the disaster] would be that the child was wired normally and thus did not start off “wanting” to be a girl. This one wanted to be a girl so it’s okay?

So his problem is “developmental”: due to something that happened to him early in his upbringing.
However, there is a photo of the “boy” in a pink tutu. So where did he get the “tutu”? I had boys, and didn’t have any in my house (does he have an older sister?)
Which makes me think that he was somehow “programmed” by his parents to be a girl to get attention...either because he saw a sister (is there one? I didn’t read the article) or that he found that he was given positive feedback when he did such things.
Yes, I believe the surgical mutilation of this boy is gravely wrong. Yes, it is the maiming of a healthy body to make it match a confused and unhappy mind. Yes, I believe the parents are cooperating in a grave evil and the doctors are acting in a blatantly unethical act: an act of medical destruction rather than healing.
However there is no way one can blame the boy, Wyatt, who is under his misguided parents' control and is not making the decisions for himself. As for the parents, God (and not you and I) will judge whether they are acting with true knowledge and culp[able consent, or whether they have been deceived and victimized as well.
I can only agree that objectively this is parfticipation in the evil of sexual mutilation. However as to the judgment of souls, leave that to the Creator. He knows souls. He can judge justly and compassionately. He does not hate His creatures; He wills that none should perish; He reaches out at every moment to save.
When the boys were 5, Kelly and Wayne threw a “get-to-know-me’’ party for classmates and parents. Wyatt appeared beaming at the top of the stairs in a princess gown, a gift from HIS GRANDMOTHER!

A few important points.
Halfway through gestation, male mammal fetuses excrete a bit of testosterone from their testes, which goes to their brain and tells it, it is a male brain. If that testosterone does not arrive, the human brain is female by default.
In animals this is enough to determine their mating behavior, BUT NOT IN HUMANS. It DOES NOT determine either sexuality or sexual attraction in humans.
But what it does do is strongly influence a child as to whether they have masculine or feminine behavior. A very masculine woman can be very heterosexual, and a very feminine male can also be very heterosexual. IT DOES NOT MAKE ANYONE GAY.
However, it can result in truly impressive gender identity confusion. This can be very pronounced to the point that a child deeply dislikes their natural gender, and in rare cases, it can haunt a child all the way to adulthood.
The dangerous part of this is that there are natural and artificial chemicals that can make this gender confusion much worse.
So the question becomes: is transgenderism legitimate?
If a boy thinks he is a girl, all the way through to adulthood, and suffers accordingly because he is not a girl, is hormone therapy and surgery acceptable?
This problem is not correctable through drugs or psychotherapy, it should be noted.
