With his vast trail of scandals and long list of enemies, Newt Gingrich is unlikely to win the Republican presidential nomination, even if he
The only guy that will destroy Obama in a debate is Newt Gingrich. He’s the smartest guy with the most knowledge. You want to take your chances with a Rick Perry simply because he’s more conservative, go ahead, but when he looks stupid in a debate because he can’t remember something, that’s all the media is going to replay over and over again leading up to the election. Newt’s the only one who can make the conservative argument intelligently. Ron Paul will sit back and let Iran have a nuke. Let’s get serious people.
Ron Paul’s biggest threat is to America.
Paul will NEVER be elected as President of America
His being in the race only help President Obama and that hurst America.
I think, given the direction the Obama team intends to head with their campaign theme, we would be crazy not to reconsider Perry, given how effective his biography and life story would be combatting that theme."..........
Smacks Romney and righteously praises Gingrich.
Gingrich has to be CIC!
Ron Paul deserted the Republican Party in 1987 and criticized President Reagan while doing it. The only reason he came back was he knew he couldn’t win an election without being in a major party. He also has his head in the sand when it comes to Iran. Wake up people.
Caroline Glick is the voice for Israel and our US ties.
She sees Gingrich’s leadership. I do too.
We don’t need another apologists for America. Ron Paul will show weakness to Iran like Obama is doing now. Newt will show strength as Reagan did. He will not apologize and will stand up and directly confront tyrants and evil dictators, while embracing America’s greatness, because that’s what real leaders do.
So I am just going to say it--Do these people really want a president that can't keep his eyebrows on?!
Ron Paul should be certified insane.
Good point. I would also like to see the entire sordid scandal of his vile newsletters get some media visibility now and sink this kook before he damages the primary process more.
No one cares where Rick Perry grew up. That theme would not resonate. The only thing that resonates is someone who can talk to the people directly and tell them this is how are going to solve this problem and explain why Obama’s philosphy is wrong. Look - I could run for President and just do a Perry imitation. How does the script go? “Boots on the ground, put up a fence and assets in the air and I guarantee you in 12 months, I will stop illegal immigration.” Yes - I know - you’ve said it at every debate. “I’m a 10th ammendment guy” “Put more power back to the states” same old stuff same old script. Bottom line - Perry will not attract the moderates because he talks about God too much. I’m not faulting Perry - I’m just saying if you want to win a general election - just stick to issues like jobs and national security and you won’t alienate too many people.
I hear this a lot on FreeRepublic. This needs to be documented, like the Romney Truth Files here. Every crazy, nutty and ridiculous thing this man utters or does needs to be documented at least for conservatives who may get suckered into believing this guy is the "true conservative" running.
Welcome to FR.
I’ll stick with Perry as he has the story, the executive record, the programs to cut, cut, cut, and the personality and the funding.
Consider the source:
The American Prospect is a journal “of liberal ideas, committed to a just society, an enriched democracy, and effective liberal politics”
Thank you for the welcome.
Fair enough. Rick might pick up some momentum if he wins Texas on Super Tuesday March 6th which would get him back in the race, but if not, he’s looking like a future Newt endorser if he drops out. It certainly won’t be Mitt. You would figure Perry will stick around until Texas primary before deciding if he wants to go on. I agree with him on a lot, I’m just worried about his debating skills which will hurt him against Obama.
Very true. Thanks for the reminder.
Good Lord that was one hell of an anti Ron Paul screed. Paul is NOT “dangerous”! Certainly he is not more dangerous than Obama or just about any of the other candidates running. His concept [ as you call it ] of defense is based on the Founding Fathers who advised AGAINST entangling alliances & going to war on false pretenses. Paul does not like these un-Constitutional wars which were never declared in Congress as the executive branch has USURPED the role of Congress.
Advising against going to war willy nilly on FALSE pretenses is not “making excuses for terrorists”! He advocates dealing with the threat along Constitutional lines ie: going before Congress & holding a vote. No Paul does not want Iran to have a nuke - but he recognizes their right to produce nuclear energy just as we did when the Shah was in control. “Sworn enemies”?! Isn’t that a little over dramatic & somewhat out of central casting? America is not supposed to have “sworn enemies” as we are not supposed to be taking sides in other peoples wars. I did not realize tat America was involved in some Tolkienesque blood libel feud with some ancient enemy - I thought we were supposed to be a neutral or friendly force in the world.
No. Citing the reasons that some use in their reaction to the American regime is not “blaming America for 9/11”. Good lord you are full of mendacious sloganeering. Paul was simply pointing out the action of the American regime [ which is not the American people ] leads to what the CIA itself calls “blowback” as the American regime knows full well that their actions in foreign lands can stir trouble & be used as fuel for creating terrorists. The American people are not to blame at all. Further the American people are often similarly repressed by same regime as expressed recently with the recent passage of the National Defense Authorization Act which has the potential to be used against ordinary American citizens.
You are deliberately misrepresenting the earmarks because he puts them in so as to call attention to government spending because if they were not in then no one would know how the government is spending the money! The point of the earmarks is to TRACK the money government spends. If it were up to Paul he would oppose all this pork barrel nonsense but without earmarks: no one would know the exact amount that the government is spending.
He has sponsored bills in Congress to audit & ultimately end the Federal Reserve: the cause of the financial disaster America is facing.
Actually polls show that Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate that can beat Obama. The others simply have too much baggage attacked to them thus they have no chance.
Paul is not antisemitic for calling for a cut in foreign spending as he is opposed to ALL foreign spending not just against money for Israel. Furthermore: the Palestinians are Semites too so the “antisemitic” attack is a canard on more than one front.
No. Paul supports the right to protest. But he actually does not support the ideology or agenda of most of the OWS protesters as he is a firm believer & long time proponent of free market Capitalism.
You final point is most odd & comical because you promoted virtually every lie & distortion about Ron Paul there is & then had the nerve to assert that he is not what I think he is when it it YOU who clearly do not his true record. A record you went out of your way to distort.
You paint Ron Paul in a most unfaltering & dubious reflection that even his worst enemy would not recognize. All he wants is to return to the Constitution & to restore the republic.
That essentially means [ among other things ] stopping the wars we can no longer afford & to stop meddling into other people’s business & to abolish the Federal Reserve & to abolish at least five parasitic government agencies which simply gobble up tax payers money while doing nothing or getting in the way of the citizen.
The only thing [ lie ] you forgot to mention was that he “is a far Right Wing racist who likes to hobnob with Stormfront” LOL! Another distortion of course aimed at calumniating his image as he has more integrity than most other politicians out there & is consistent.
People who are delusional are dangerous.
Really the trying to compare Paul to the founding fathers is idiotic. Have you ever heard of Tripoli?
He makes excuses for terrorist all the time. “If we were only nice to them”, Or “Iran didn’t really mean they wanted all Jews dead”.
Yep, he just blamed the US this morning, happening nearly everyday now.
Sorry did you see the links to his earmarks? Listen he loads bills up that he knows will pass, then votes against them. I will give him credit for trying to be clever.
He is not who you think he is. You apparently are projection who you think he is.
Look at his decades of his words (written and spoken), his votes, his supporters.
Oh, and the constitutional issues, if Paul understood defense you might have a point. He doesn’t.
When asked about Occupy Wall Street, he said it was unfair to dismiss the concerns that are being expressed by the protesters.
