My neighbor, a nurse, had enhancement surgery several years ago and her doctor told her the same thing. Being crazier than a loon and a chain smoker, she ignored his advice; until those exact effects kicked in and she almost ended up with a mastectomy. This has nothing to do with anti-smoking and a lot to do with adverse effects of the components of tobacco smoke on healing tissues. Her plastic surgeon was also a smoker.
Isn’t that true for those needing eye surgery? They’re asked to quit smoking some months before the procedure is done, mainly for recovery reasons?
