Is is possible to import a PDF file to the "Body of Thread" text box when posting an article? How would it be done? Is the a html string to use(?), like when posting a photograph from a photo storage site, or something?
I have many PDF files of articles which I have written or edited, and am wondering if they can be posted without converting them to something else.
Thanks so much
In order to reflect the files in a comment, I believe you would have to copy text and then paste it into a word document on your own computer. That text can be copied and pasted to a comment, I do it on occasion with quotes I’ve saved. A full article would have to be archived in a public domain in order to be source or excerpted.
You should be able to highlight the article in Adobe Reader, copy the text to the clipboard, and then paste it to FR.
(I just tested the hypothesis, and it works)
Thanks. I will give that a whirl.
Thanks for your response. Paterfamilias commented that he/she copied a PDF file from Acrobat reader and successfully pasted it to FR.
My PDF files are uploaded on an Acrobat site, but I’m not sure it will give the source link to pull it from there to FR. But I can go back and try.
Appreciated.
Hhmmm. I just tried exactly that, but what appeared in the preview was a completely unformated text version.
Yeah, you will lose the formatting, but you should be able to remedy that manually.

One idea may be to get some free online storage where you can store the files, making them accessible to the public if you wish. Then, you should be able to cut/paste the links to the files into a post on FR.
You should first export the PDF file to Word format, then Copy & Paste the content into a text object in Photoshop. Then export the PSD file as HTML with the image sliced and the text object labeled a No Image area. Then open the HTML file in Dreamweaver and select File > Print Code. Take the printout and transcribe the text into the FreeRepublic Post Your Reply text area.
Simple.
