Iceland's special prosecutor has taken Larus Welding, the former head of the failed Glitnir Bank, into custody, Reuters reports.
Glitnir Bank was the first of the top three Icelandic commercial banks to fail in 2008.

Iceland voters did not accept financial responsibility for their private banks, and is now on the road to recovery. Other countries that treated their banks as business partners and were given blank checks from the taxpayers, are still foundering, while the bank executives remain in place with huge compensation packages.
