Georgia is on a serious run right now. After two straight losses to #5 Boise State and #12 South Carolina, they have been on fire. If they can hold on to beat LSU, we may very well have a case where the BCS title game matches up LSU and Alabama. LSU is currently #1 but would have a hard time making the case that they are the best team in their own conference, and Alabama is #2 but didn't even make it to the SEC title game because they play in the same SEC West division as LSU and lost to them earlier in the season.

If nothing else, I hope this puts to rest any doubts that anyone has about the outright superiority of the Southeastern Conference over all other conferences in NCAA football. Coming into this weekend's games, the ranked teams in the SEC include #1 LSU, #2 Alabama, #6 Arkansas (they were #3 until they lost to LSU last weekend), #12 Georgia (maybe the hottest team in the country right now), and #14 South Carolina (who beat Georgia in Week 2 but finished beneath them in the SEC East because they had two losses in the SEC this year while Georgia's other loss was to Boise State).

I'd also suggest that LSU belongs in the BCS title game regardless of what happens in this game. No way in hell should a #1 team lose a change to play in the title game by losing their conference championship game while other top teams (#2 Alabama being the obvious one) are idle.
