If Sarah had run, she’d be on her way to the nomination right now. Unfortunately, she CHOSE not to run.
Paging Sarah Palin - Please pick up the white courtesy telephone.
Maybe they just didn't like her.
You were right? How about everyone here who said she wouldn't run?
Were they right? Where is your thread about that?
one word....baggage
The Left is organized around propaganda. From seeding news organizations with their operatives to networks like Journolist, they have a coordinated attack on the Right, which is populated by befuddled Mr. Magoo's who routinely get blindsided.
Either the Right gets a grip on this and retaliates or we all end up slaves of the latter day Bolsheviks.
Sarah Palin made her own decision. Placing blame upon others is childish and unbecoming of a conservative.
The problem with being a conservative is that we have morals and standards to which we (attempt the best we can) hold our leaders (or, to be more technically correct, our “public servants”).
I really wanted Cain to do well. He lost my support not just because of the lefty/Dem race baiting (”Colored Boy Gropes White Woman!”) but because his grasp of the issues (outside of “9-9-9”) just wasn’t up to snuff.
Where Sarah would be at this point in some hypothetical alternative universe in which she was running is moot. At the moment, she’s not running and we have to choose amongst the least worst options that are available to us.
Politics ain’t bean bag, baby.
That , and a couple of bucks will get you a bag of popcorn.
Palin (correctly) ascertained that she would not get any backing from the Republican establishment ... that backing would to go Romney almost exclusively.
We will get what we deserve.
We always do.
On to Bachmann, then (shudder!) Newt.
After that, write in Palin.
NO Cheers, unfortunately.
déjà vu
Rockefeller v. Goldwater
Watch out for those Party dudes. They play for keeps. I remember.
In the words of Nelson Rockefeller's public relations head, Stuart Spencer, "We had to destroy Barry Goldwater as a member of the human race."
I recall that following the 1964 election a small number of liberal media types asking did they go too far trying to destroy Goldwater.
Some say that Romney, whose dad George was in the Rockefeller crowd if I remember correctly, was behind the effort to destroy Herman Cain as a member of the human race -- and yes they'll do the same to Palin, et al.
You are right up that the left stays on message and are able to unite. However, Sara quit; which may or may not have been a good thing for her which I am not saying.
We need a strong candidate to work with. I nominate that Anne Barnheart(not sure that is her last name) from CO who was threatened by the Islams a few weeks back. She would stand.
Now Newt Gingrich is certainly more polarizing.
I believe her when she said her family didn’t want her to run...I also respect her decision...the only thing that bothers me is she could have told her supporters earlier, she left them dangling for too long...not good
I think there is a lot of us that keep thinking (hoping) that media was remotely fair that the Republican party was an actual separate party and not just the same political thespians dancing stage right on the political stage with red leotards pulled neatly up over their neutered loins.
Yep, I made the same argument many times over. Although I actually thought it smart in a way that Palin didn’t run, because the media would have been like rabid-wolves with her, going ballistic with lies and smears, and snuffing out her ‘message,’ and chewing her to pieces. The GOP establishment would have just happily piled on, of course. And the media would be giving all the other candidates a totally free pass, while they were on their bloodlust-tinged ‘wilding’ of Palin.
It was an unwinnable gauntlet for her, or anyone else who dares to truly threaten the status-quo. By sidestepping the carnage, she’s preserving her voice for her pet crusades, like combating corruption and the professional political class, and enegy independence. I actually think she might very well make much more headway going this route... which could even still pay off in the political arena as well, if she plays her cards well. And considering the ridiculous flop “our betters” at GOP Central are making of things, she’s looking better and better all the time.
Palin 2012, guys. I’m not going to say you’ve got nowhere else to go. I don’t have to. The rest of the field is saying it for me.
As I just posted on another thread, watch for the MSM attack machine to swivel to Newt now, and maybe Bachmann if she starts to rise again. Perry too.
We know what they will do, and we’ve just seen how effective it is.
Someone more informed than me, please correct:
I believe that if Palin ran now she’d not be on several states’ ballots. Also, would this be true of a person declaring 3rd party status? Each state is different.
I’d like to correct the premise, too, that is that we didn’t support Palin...yes we did; the MSM destroyed her like Cain...we did stand by her. Cain, too...I would say our fearless radio hosts gave up on Palin early on, and tossed in the towel on Cain (Ingraham).
Bottom line is there is no chance of third party. Right now our choices are:
: Perry
: Bachman
: Gingrich
: Romney
: Santorum
: Paul
: Huntsman
The last two have no chance.
Romney is preferred only over Obama, but believe he can’t beat Obama (only Coulter believes he can beat Obama)
I would not give up on Perry or Bachman or Santorum but believe Gingrich is likeliest and can beat Obama...Obama and the MSM will do everything they can to avoid debates.
Critical point...we can’t press our side like Palin or Cain to endorse too fast as if Gingrich pulls a dumb move, then our side is sunk...the others, Bachman, Perry, Santorum are conservative enough and like Reagan, can gain momentum fast.
Patience and let it play out.
Obama is the enemy.
Do not give up just because Palin and Cain are out - the Soros machine wants you to give up. Don’t let them win.
