The woman who spearheaded the law to outlaw using wild mustangs for dog food?

Remember the 60s movie "The Misfits?" Clark Gable rounded up wild Mustangs to ship them to slaughterhouses for dog food.
Who was the lady who spearheaded the movement to get this practice outlawed?
thanx

Wish I knew...wish I could help. Could never watch that movie, just as I can’t watch Humane Society commercials.
Just want to remind people: Don’t eat the horses; we’ll need them for transportation in this obamanation soon!

If I recall it was a school teacher. That by chance happened upon a round up in one of the western states. She asked what was going on. So the cowboys told her. They were rounding up the horses for slaughter. She went back to her school in one of the eastern states. And instructed her students to write congress. And the wild horse act came about. These none native animals destroy the environment of the western states. And the leftist aka progressive treehuggers defend it! At the same time the leftist aka progressive treehuggers demand cattle ranchers be stopped from raising cattle on public lands. Hypocrites!

I *could* be wrong, but I think it involved Frank Hopkins (Hidalgo film) as well.

My father once ate horse meat and didn't like it. said he would never eat it again, described it as being too sweet. I think it must be an acquired taste, but I would never eat horse meat...don't care how hungry I was....Our wild mustangs are rounded up and sent oversea’s where horse meat is a delicacy...

Remember the 60s movie "The Misfits?" Clark Gable rounded up wild Mustangs to ship them to slaughterhouses for dog food. That movie needs a sequel, about a park ranger who has to pick up and bury horses that died of starvation.

All horses not just the mustangs which are supposed to be protected. Horse meat is full of toxins too. My horses all have had Bute & other drugs & people want to eat then? I would rather a vet put them down. I saved them & I surely would never let a slaughterhouse have them. I want to know what is going to be done to protect the towns & employee's from the odors & injuries which are always at slaughterhouses? And by the way if people think Americans are going to get work , I doubt it. Most Americans don't want to kill a horse for $9 & up. The places are so bad that the job turnover rate a few years ago was 80%.
I hope all is well with you, I love my little farm!

Would you deny others their property rights to dispose of their horses by slaughtering for food/meat?

Don't know if your joking or not but different kinds of meat taste different, I raised goats and did not like the taste of goat meat etc...same with lamb. To him, raised on a farm, being born in 1901 and liked the taste of chicken feet, I'd say it was probably on the sweet side for meat..
Its hard to explain the difference between the taste of beef and pork to someone that has never had pork...

My daughter is really upset over this proposed law. She had 2 horses, one died after years of vet care. Even sent the horse to U of M vet school, it was something to do with the feet/hoofs I think. She loves horses. I don't think of them as food for humans either. Why aren't wild horses protected like other critters...If there are too many they can be culled but we don't round deer up for slaughterl, why horses... Some years tags are given out for some species that has grown too big for the area...same couldn be done with horses...
Its not a meat american's are used to but I understand some countries like horse meat. Culture is strange, cows roam the streets of India, some temples protect rats, some eat dog and cat...To me it all seems disgusting, but thats the culture I am in...I would never eat horse meat and there surely can be enough space for them after all we have enough space for the scum politicans to live..How much more pleasant to have horses than politicans roaming the land..
