I've always felt safe with my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag, loaded with Federal Premium CastCore. I like the simplicity of the single action, and I feel safer keeping it under my pillow than I would if I had a more complex weapon.
That .44 mag Ruger Super Blackhawk is the pistol I carried with me up there. I never had to try it out on a grizzly though. I always just left the area when they showed up.
I've got the same gun, but with a scope.
If I go into grizzly country with it though, I'd better take the scope off. That scope wouldn't feel too good when a grizzly shoves it up my ass.
