High School Student Fights Bachmann on Gay Marriage Stance at Town Hall Meeting

A cozy town hall meeting with Michele Bachmann at the Waverly Pizza Ranch in Iowa took a twist Wednesday when a student questioned the GOP presidential contender’s views on same-sex marriage and of what she would do for the gay and lesbian community as president.

“All of us as Americans have the same rights, we have the same civil rights,” Bachmann told 16-year-old Jane Schmidt, who identified herself as a member of the school’s GSA, the alliance advocating for the rights of gay and straight students.

“There shouldn’t be any special rights or any special set of criteria,” Bachmann continued. “We all have the same civil rights. ”

But that didn’t sit well with the student, who said that members of the gay and lesbian community do not have the same rights because they can’t get married.

In response, Bachmann said, “There are no special rights for people based upon your sex practices.”

“There’s no special rights based upon what you do in your sex life. You’re an American citizen first and foremost and that’s it.”

Bachmann reiterated that marriage is between a “man and a woman” and that it is still “the law of the land.”

Kinda scary that young kids are leftist, mush head ideologues. Bachmann response that man-woman marriage was the law of the land was woefully inadequate. That’s what the debate is all about, and the law of the land may well be changed. Marriage is between a man and a woman. period. Doesn’t matter what law of the land is. Majority votes or minority pressure does not change eternal truths.

Jane Schmit or whatever can’t vote and there is a damn good reason 16 year olds can’t vote. Were it not for 18 year olds going to war they shouldn’t vote either. Neither should anyone who doesn’t pay taxes. That is the way it started out and that is the way it should have stayed and for damn good reasons.

They really started pushing it with sex ed when I was in middle school in the late 70s.

Its really pretty insidious how they do it too. Young teens are at their most impressionable and that's when they used to start with its "normal" to be gay. Basically they start insinuating that teens aren't normal if they don't have gay thoughts at an age when most kids want to be normal and fit in.

I'm incredibly lucky to have grown up in a conservative rural town where that crap simply didn't take.

In NYS 18-21 year olds *whose mothers are still receiving “child” support payments on their behalf* are allowed to vote. Matriarchy support, errrr, I mean “child” support is mandatory through 21 and beyond.

So basically children can vote in NYS.
