I wished we had Perry as our governor during the corrupt Richardson years; he's done great for Texas. But he'd be no match in a debate against Obama whose smooth talking and continual platitudes would convince those who aren't following closely that Obama is still the candidate to support and would succeed if it just wasn't for those pesky Tea Party Republicans.
I'm lukewarm towards Newt, but gotta be impressed with how he's handled the debates. He is the smartest one on the stage and his new films explore a wide range of American issues and topics (Gingrich's own movies explore topics such as Ronald Reagan's "rendezvous with destiny," Islamic extremism, alternative energy and the role of religion in the roots of the United States and the Polish Solidarity movement.).
The purpose is to win and even our FR founder says he would support Gingrich if it means ousting Obama (not so for Romney).
Hate to tell you but if Cain flames out and Bachmann and Perry remain trailing in the low single digits, I’m going all in with Newt. Not that I like or trust him, but I really, really DISLIKE and totally DISTRUST Romney. It’ll be anyone but Romney for me. DRAFT PALIN!!
Yes. Newt is a master self promoter as well as a master debater (he’d be the first to tell you too).
