That’s why they put a safety on a shotgun.
I went bird hunting with a friend once who took the safety off when he got to the field, I got back in the car and left.
Yep, he definitely should have put the safety on.
In addition, the dog needs more range time. Not giving a dog sufficient range time is just criminal. :-)
I’ve got an old single shot 20 Gauge Winchester Model 29 that doesn’t have a serial number and does not have a safety...just the hammer and trigger....it was my grandfather’s. I haven’t fired it in 50 years.
