WELL DONE, good buddy!!
Patterson is man’s man after my own heart.
Truer words were never spoken...
We tend to do the right thing here in northern Idaho.
“Anyone else want to ‘negotiate’?”
Good man.
I'm sure that Ed Santos appreciates the shout out to Center Target Sports.
“with a six-shot clip.”
... all my 1911s have a seven round clip.
Is this a short Kimber?
Nice job. Too bad the guy got away though.
“In Idaho, there’s a lot of folks who carry a weapon with them, and they’re not afraid to protect their friends and family.”
That should be a common refrain in every state. Criminlas need to fear those with a CCW as much or more than the police.
He’ll be back out on the streets in no time committing other similar crimes. He did society a dis-service by not pulling the trigger and giving him some lead love.
I love his theory:
“He has had a concealed weapons permit about 10 years. He has taken handgun courses. He has been on pistol teams. He has gone through instruction at Center Target Sports in Post Falls. He’s a hunter.
He lives by what he calls the sheep dog, sheep and wolf theory.
Wolves, he said, are the bad people. Sheep are the innocent ones. Sheep dogs are law enforcement and other “good men not willing to stand by and let evil triumph.”
“In Idaho, there’s a lot of folks like myself who are not willing to stand by and let evil triumph,” he said.”
A good outcome for the lady. Both the wife and I carry and both of us have many hours of training and range plunking.
Secondly, the citizen involved took the trouble to get training (Center Target is awesome!) and did a couple of things right: de-escalated upon a tactical assessment and didn't try to hold anyone at gunpoint for later arrest. That's not his job, that's the police's job and they're pretty good at it around here, thank you. People sometimes think armed citizens are a bunch of yahoos out there playing James Bond, which is natural enough because that's what the national media are bleating all the time, but it isn't the case.
I don't doubt for a moment that this gentleman would have fired had he assessed the situation to be an impending murder. More to the point, neither did the perp. And that's how it ought to be.
Another case where a gun saved a life what do the gun grabbers have to say to that?
He should be easy enough to find /s
“The suspect, described as a man with dark hair about 6-feet tall”
Here’s a local one:
Police: Soldier Being Robbed Pulls Gun On Assailants

“Clip?” Heavy sigh....
Like when there are no uniformed "more qualified than others to be of assistance" people around.
"A hero is putting his life at risk in order to sacrifice part of himself in order to help somebody else. In my case, I don't believe I was putting my life at risk at all. I had a gun. I was going to help her. I never felt in jeopardy by this guy at all."
But he did say he hopes his actions deliver a message to the bad guys:
"In Idaho, there's a lot of folks who carry a weapon with them, and they're not afraid to protect their friends and family."
Isn't that the truth? :-)
In North Idaho, if a guy tells you to "drop it, or I'll shoot", you may consider yourself fortunate that you're being confronted by such a polite guy. Make no mistake, though. If you do not drop it, he will shoot you.
Funny how that works.
Sgt. Christie Wood, Coeur d'Alene police spokeswoman, said while Patterson's actions were certainly brave and appreciated, police face a fine line when it comes to citizens trying to stop a crime. Some are more qualified than others to be of assistance, she said. Individuals need to assess the situation and decide whether it's safe for them to get involved.
Blow it out your shorts, copper. Doing the right thing carries risks. Clearly people do assess those risks which is why some people do something and some don't.
