The “relative” temperature indexes cause more trouble than they are worth anyway. I have worked in a garage and had people call worried because their antifreeze is good down to -25 but they hear on the news that the windchill will be -30. It can be very hard to explain this to them

It can be very hard to explain this to them They think that you don't care about how it "feels" to the radiators??? Why you uncaring mechanic, you! For shame! Couldn't you just put a muffler on it... Isn't that what mufflers are for? To keep the car warm in winter?

When I was in the USAF in Montana the coldest “temperature” without any wind that I saw was -38 F. My 67 dodge pickup truck started. I didn’t even have an engine block heater and it was parked outside.
