Scully is the best. Happy Birthday Vin!
I began listening to Vin Scully’s Dodger game broadcasts over KFI, at 640 kcs. in 1960.
good for you.....Vin is an OK guy.
but personally I would have to place Red Barber and Mel Allen (how about that!) at the top of that catagory.
With honorable mention going to Phil Rizzuto(HOLY COW!) and of course Harry Carray ( the original HOLY COW!) ....
I sure miss NBC baseball on Saturday mornings with Vin Scully and Joe Gargiola. It was back in the late 70’s early 80’s. I really enjoyed sitting home on Saturday mornings listening to them. Now who do we have, Tim Diareheaofthemouth on Fox. Yuck.
I don’t listen to many Dodger broadcasts, but have always enjoyed hearing Vin do other athletic events.
Scully is an undeniable great, but I always preferred the spare, elegant, understated style of the St. Louis Cardinals’ late legend Jack Buck.
I grew up in SoCal listening to Vin Scully and Jerry Dogget on my transistor radio. Heard him call Sandy Koufax prefect game. They don’t make’em any better. Happy Birthday, Mr. Scully!!
Happy birthday to I think greatest baseball announcer you know where we get to the age where all our giants be dying soon
Chick is gone
Vinnie still around

I was checking my pings and only saw his face, my heart dropped! Glad it is his birthday ping!!! LOL!
I purchased a MLB.TV subscription this year, and it was a pure pleasure to be able to listen to Vin broadcast Dodger games.
One of my most vivid childhood memories. 1959 - Dodgers and Braves playoff. Riding my bike home from school and getting to the TV just in time to hear:
There’s a bouncer over the mound, over 2nd base, Mantilla has it...throws low and wild and Hodges scores, we go to Chicago!
Pretty good football announcer as well, he called “The Catch” in the 1981 NFC Championship Game.
Time to throw some Farmer John dogs on the grill.
Ah, remember when he broke in with Brooklyn...days of radio under the covers when supposed to be asleep.
BTW, thought he would never last.....
oh well, like Rush, about the last time I was wrong....<: <:
Yup. I’ve been an Angels fan my whole life, but even I know Vin Scully is the voice of baseball. When I hear his voice, suddenly it’s summertime and the grass is freshly mowed, even in the dead of winter.
