To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks

If there were true equality of opportunity, 50% of wives would be earning more than their husbands. I suspect this would upset the women more than the men.

Not necessarily. There are still on average different preferences between husbands and wives, as well as simply biological realities in having a family.

Outcomes don’t necessarily reflect opportunities.

Not really. Not when you consider delaying up to 1/2 a year of a career when you have a child. And it’s their choice, it isn’t unfair. If you’re not there doing work, there’s nothing on which to base a promotion.

I think it would upset the men more. If you take cultures where alcoholism is rife, for instance among present day Aborigines, Native Americans and communist time Russians etc. i see a common thread

When a culture is over-awed and the men are cowed into thinking that they cannot protect or provide for their families, then they, the men fall into depression and seek refuge in alcohol

Man's role is as bread-winner. Maybe the wife would be BETTER at earning money. No matter. If the man does not feel like he is contributing as the head of the family, more than likely he degenerates.
