MANSFIELD, Ohio -- The old, imposing prison in Ohio where the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" was filmed has become a hot spot for weddings and hosts an annual bridal show. What was once known as the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield is all booked up for weddings through the end of 2012 and has begun taking reservations for 2013. The bridal show is called "Glamour in the Slammer" and is in its fifth year.

This brings an entirely new level of meaning to “prison love”.
Ladies and gentlemen, we live in absurd times.
Actually, the area it is done in is quite nice. It’s where they did the meal scene for the movie Air Force One and the Lenin and Staling photos, while fading, are visible. And of course the exterior of the facility is quite gothic.
While not the first place I would have a wedding or reception, it really is kind of neat.
We go about every other year for one of the general tours.
At first I thought the headline was talking about that big oak tree where Andy had his picnic and stashed the money for Red. That would be a nice spot.
Although If I was going to do an outdoor wedding, I’d probably look for some nice trees closer to home.
What is wrong with people?!
The tree was destroyed by a severe thunderstorm in August.
It seems to me that tree has been in several movies.
kind of like the one in Forrest Gump where Jenny was buried.
Rumor has it that it is extremely scarey, with strange noises and shadows moving, like that ghost-busters tv show. Numerous people have fled the facility by midnight.
As for getting married there, I guess it might be symbolic for some.
That’s too bad - was a pretty tree and setting.
The owner is probably good for firewood the next few years though.
“The Shawshank Redemption” - one of the best movies ever.
A real ‘feel gooder’.

When the warden pushes his finger through the poster is one of the best moments in movies anyway.
Have you ever went when they had the “haunted house” for Halloween ?
My cousins kept trying to get me to go and I kept declining them.
I dont know if they’re still doing them now or not ? If not, it’s been the past couple of years.
We’ve been to Halloween a couple of times. They do a great job, if you enjoy being scared.
Yeah, my one cousin doesnt scare easily at all and she was **** freaked out **** big time , the first visit.
I’m a chicken ROTFLMAO so I won’t go.
Are you far from there ? I’m prolly only 45 minutes from there.
I’m closer to the Columbus area, so about an hour to an hour and a half
They’re spiritually bankrupt.
I have lost track of how many times I have seen this movie because of Bob Gunton.
I have the biggest crush on him.
Bob Gunton! He’s one of the best, hands down.
